E3 spark plugs?

Recommended Posts

Coming up on 55K miles, changing the plugs, filters, and fluids. I have run E3's in other vehicles with good luck,  but don't see any mention of them on here. Anyone use them? Am I going to be the ginny pig on these?

I have used them in small engines.

No big advantage to me.

I always use OEM plugs in my vehicles.

There are posts on here that are old where some have run them and had to take them back out.

Running OEM is the way to go.

Most on here say that AC Delco (OEM) iridium or NGK (makes AC Delco iridium plugs?) are the only way to go.  Some have tried other brands only to experience misfires and have gone back to OEM.  Just be sure you get the real deal and not cheap, fake Chinese knockoffs off of Ebay.

Excellent, thank you all for the input.

They are here.

I'll put them in, I'll also buy the AC iridium plugs for when I take these right back out it seems.

Thanks for the heads up.

Once upon a time in a land far-far away a guy could make a substantial improvement in mileage and power upgrading his ignition system. Fact is in the 60's it was common for an OEM system to misfire 10 to 12% of all spark cycles. Yea....those days are over.

FYI it takes 15% misfires for the average human to even notice a misfire. In the 60's I could tune a factory carb and ignition and almost warranty a 25% increase in fuel efficiency and a 10% increase in power. Today..zip...ziltch...nada. Nothing in the aftermarket ignition menu will improve the factory lay out within the factory tune.

55k is early on plug change. Those OE Iridiums will go 90k with no loss of power.

I changed them at 100K in Pepper and they looked great yet. Changed them in the wife's Terrain at 100K  and every one of them had the gas seals blown.

Installed said plugs, no noticeable difference. AC Delco iridium plugs that where in there looked perfect, replacement AC Delco’s coming in the mail.
Grumpy’s right, new trucks have such good ignitions and electronics, stick with what they came with.
As all have said above, thanks for the replys.
