The truck is finished :)

For at least 7 years, I wanted to upgrade the front of my truck and never got around to it.

I was involved in an accident last month and since most of the front end parts needed to be replaced, I thought now was the time.

I didn't like the white end caps on the front bumper, they stuck out like a sore thumb. They don't seem to flow with the look of the truck.

The chrome grill and bumper was the way the truck was new, and now I have it completed with the white LTZ grille and white front end with chrome tow hooks.

So what do you think?

I agree, that's an improvement; the white looks nice.

Do you happen to have an exploded view of the bumper, supports and other parts, showing how they're all mounted up?  My wife backed into my truck and the bumper is bent and one of the corner trim pieces is sitting ******-eyed.  I have been contemplating taking it off and trying to adjust the corner piece and replace the bumper, but would like to see how it all bolts together before I do all that.  Thanks!

I happen to be very lucky to be in this situation, because the insurance wanted to pay to repair the vehicle the way it was using aftermarket and used parts.

I do bookkeeping for the body shop and told the owner I wanted to upgrade the looks of the truck and he let me order all the parts from the local Chevy dealer. That way, I got no aftermarket parts and we stayed within the estimate so it didn't cost me anything.

After getting the estimate from the insurance co, I used https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

to look up parts and part numbers to be sure to order the correct ones.

The parts views sometimes are misleading if you are not familiar with the way the truck goes together, like I was, and had to send back and reorder parts a couple of times. Luckily the dealer will accept returns from the body shops they do business with all the time, I am not so sure if they would take returns on special order parts for retail customers. The trick there would be to tell them what you need, let them order the part and if it is wrong, then they ordered the wrong part. If you go in and order a part by part number, you are usually stuck with it, because you told them what to order.

Of course the dealer wants to go by the VIN number and they were helpful in getting the correct parts for me, even the ones that were not originally on the truck when new.
