Yes, that is all that needs to happen, 

 

Pull it back out (if not already), grab a large screwdriver that will fit in the hole and use some strength to turn it.

Eibach sent me two new shocks but I was in Alaska for work all last week and in California for work the week before so I haven't had the opportunity to do the install again.  If the weather holds, I hope to install them this weekend along with another addition if it arrives in time.

I placed the shock in a vice and the rubber would flex but not turn.  I'm 6'7" and placed my full weight on it and it would only flex, not turn.  At least I can admit that I am very impressed with the quality of materials thus far, its a very robust shock.  Eibach sent me two replacement shocks so I hope to give the install another shot this weekend if the weather holds up.

Hoping to hear the resolution on this.  I am having the same issue.  I am not 6' 7 but I used all the leverage I could find and could also not rotate the mounting ears in that bushing at all.  Pictures below are of the passenger side which is closer to aligned.  I think I can probably figure out a way to get these bolts started maybe attached the shock bolts first then jacking up the LCA and man handling it in place.  On the driver side though its farther off.  Maybe 10-12deg.  

 

I asked this same question over on a thread I had started earlier about the parts I was compiling for the front end rebuild.  I found this thread after I posted the same question there.

Make sure you put your LCA's on the correct side of the truck.  You can install them upside down and they will mount on the opposite side and look like they are correct besides the ball joint facing up instead of down.  It's pretty apparent what is going on once you try to install the knuckle.  Trust me I know from experience.  Once I corrected that the passenger side bolted right up.  I did have to compress the spring again and rotate it 180deg on the driver side.  After that the tabs lined up.  It sounds like the OP did the same thing I did so it can happen and hopefully this saves someone some time or at least some embarrassment in the future.

I've seen them be a little off, never so much that they couldn't be mounted.

 

The small amounts I've seen get taken up when tightened down.

 

If that bushing is so tight that you can't spin it in the shock mounting tube to more closely align, then forcing it will be putting a bunch of extra torsional strain on the bushing that shouldn't be there and potentially cause the bushing to wear out faster. 

 

Yes, you can spin the bottom of the shock (180 degrees) independent of the spring and top mount, so long as you relieve the spring tension by breaking down the strut again. I think you already tried this and the result doesn't improve the situation. 

 

Given the above, Eibach should offer a reasonable resolution - if not, pick another brand.

    • I did a search outside of this forum and came across a thread from this forum from two years ago which was amusing but one I recall now from a trusted member who had himself had to add a quart on his brand new truck to bring it up to near the level plug level. Then after accumulating 5000 or so miles on the truck he pulled the cover to drain it out and wiped out the bottom of the diff housing and put the factory cover back on and in his case it took exactly 4 quarts to bring it up to within that 4/10 of an inch below the fill/level check plug, far more than the GM spec. That is a big difference between that GM spec ( which is why the GM diffs are below the level they themselves say they should be when coming out of the factory ) vs what amounts to around 8 pints of oil.    My own truck when I first got it home from new, I had not measured how much volume mine took since I used a hand pump on a 6 gallon pail of gear oil to top it off but I had measured it by using a bent wire on the flat shop floor after the truck sat overnight and a ruler and it was exactly 1" below the bottom of the fill hole on the rear diff. That fell right into line with what others have measured from a factory filled rear diff on these HD trucks, however the GM instructions are to fill from within between 4/10" of an inch or up to the bottom of the fill/level check hole as the full range. So that is why it alarmed me when you mentioned not seeing any oil in that window although I wasn't sure if that diff cover held the exact same amount as the factory cover so can only speculate its probably very close to retain the same oil flow characteristics over the top that the ring gear provides with the factory curved cover vs some of these odd flat back diff covers ( the whole video Gale does on that about some of the goofy after market covers out there ). 
    • I agree it's ambiguous, and somewhat complicated with a shared application. For S&Gs, I just looked on Amsoil's website for a 2023 Ram 2500 with 6.4 gas. https://www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2023/ram/2500-pickup/6-4l-8-cyl-engine-code-j-esb-j/   There's a lot of listings for Ram rear differentials, and too early in the morning to dig into the variants. But there's a big difference in fluid volume called for between them and GM applications, assuming it's the same axle assembly.    So, if GM differentials tend to be underfilled, what does everyone think about a 7 pint fill, as opposed to the 6.3 pints listed on Amsoil's website? It would somewhat conservatively split the difference between Ram and GM specs.

    • Can I ask if you are having issues with the current coils?   With all of my years around LS engines, the stock coils are the best hands down. If they aren't giving you any problems, do no change them. They can go 200-300k miles easy without a hiccup.
