I saw that as well. I called local dealer and for roughly $55 I can get 7 quarts. Will likely pick up 24 to have a few changes plus spares to keep in truck. The filters are low cost so I hope to change mine for under $60.

With my 5.3's they took 8qts.  I would always buy the two 5qt jugs of Mobil 1 which would run 50-55.00 plus filter.  I just did an oil change on the 3.0 at about 1500miles probably not necessary but did it any way.  Picked up 8qts, filter and 2.5gal of DEF out the door for 75.00.  Without the DEF the total would have been right at 60.00.  Which is pretty close to what I was spending on my 5.3's.  Since the oil is hard to find, I decided to get an extra quart, just in case.

Hi Everyone!

First post here.

I have a 2020 K1500 Silverado High Country 3.0 diesel.  Bought Jan. 29th, 2020. I now have 8,900 miles on it. I did my first oil change at 3,800 miles. Sent in a sample for an analysis from Blackstone Labs (Ft. Wayne, IN). All was good.

I too, had the same issue of running more than a quart low. Checked the oil level when I got it a few times. Let it go for about 1,500 miles and was shocked when I checked it again at 2,500 miles (it was low.....didn't even register)!

I did my first oil change on my own and took some video of it. I bought 8 quarts so I'd have an extra. Nothing earth shattering or new as it the usual drain plug and oil filter (remove, drain, clean, re-install). I did opt to go with a Wix oil filter vs. the AC Delco.  Since that oil change I have added the extra quart as it was not registering again. I'm presently in the low 30s on oil life per the DIC.

So far, the best price I've found on the oil is $4.70/ quart from https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/gm-oil-19370138.  Like most of you have experienced, the supply is limited and I found and bought the oil for my first oil change from https://www.cheapestgmparts.com/oem-parts/gm-oil-19370138 as they were the best price and in-stock at the time (May).

I'm hoping the oil consumption will stop soon.

I'll rotate my tires with this next oil change.

Overall, I love this truck. Mileage is incredible compared to the 2010 I traded in!!!  I'm getting 22-24 mpg in town and 28 or so on the highway. DIC says the best 50 mile segment was 33 mpg!!!  I do keep a log of my fill ups and the DIC measures from 100% spot on to upwards of 1 mpg low compared to hard numbers. If you're interested, you can follow me on Fuelly.com for my milage experience.  I go by SWBuckeye there too. FYI - I use the TFL fill up method....pump kicks off, wait 30 seconds, start & let it kick off again.

Not sure if anyone has experienced this but I had a "Service Emission System" light come on? Ended up getting a new back pressure valve on the exhaust system to replace the original. No problems since.

I changed the oil in my 2020 3.0l duramax with AC Delco DexosD 0w-20 Light Duty Diesel Engine Oil 7 qts with filter at 27,000 miles. At 30,000 the truck went into limp mode on hard acceleration and the check engine light came on. I shut off the engine, waited 10 minutes and drove it . The light was off and the engine ran fine. I did another hard acceleration and it went into limp mode. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it and after 2 wks of speculation regarding wiring harnesses and oil pan sensors they determined that I was 4 qts of oil low. Sooo...it was either burned or leaked. Does anyone believe this? Wouldn't the diagnostics have showed low oil? Where did the oil go. I still have the empties to prove I put in seven quarts. The oil and the filter came as a kit from amazon. Anyone have any ideas?

Michael I didn’t do an oil change but curious what you found out.  I have a brand new 3.0 and have had issues since. Only 3000 miles and the same exact thing you explained with hard acceleration.  They thought Ecm which I waited 3 weeks on but it didn’t fix it.  I checked the dip stick and same thing just shy of 4 quarts low.  I was hoping it was shipped from the factory like this and not blowing throw a quart every 750 miles.

Dealer filled it up and marked the miles for me to keep an eye on.  Curious if you had an update as I’ll be keeping an eye on this.

    • You could try a used 1, they used that engine in the Astro vans, Plenty of them in the boneyard. Look for a wrecked or rotted 1 so the chance that it was scrapped for that reason and not a mechanical issue will be greater

When I plug my phone into the cord the radio will go black and stop playing, and the CarPlay is inconsistent.   I checked the fuses and they were fine. I changed the USB port out and still nothing. Hoping for some advice on what I should be looking at.
    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
