Total cost with install?

The Serria nose is wayy too pug nosed to accurately place the front nose. Combined with no parking sensors make placement expecially on trails hard.

I have around $1500 in total with reprogram.  I can sell old mirrors and swapped rear cam to recoup some costs.  I did the work myself so no labor cost besides the reprogram.  It is a lot of money but it was fun to learn about and prevented some curb rash dollars.

If I have an Elevation with the preferred package and prograde trailer system. (HD backup with hutch guidance)

Will I be able to upgrade? Also any idea the part number on the trailering mirrors with cameras?

do you have bed view camera on your high mount brake light? if yes, it probably will work. my old VPM was part number 84717434.  look up video on how to remove rear seat back on youtube and see if its there.

No bed view camera.

the lemon LTZ had it but I couldn't figure out a way for the side mirror to show an image when the blinker was on, maybe the trailer had to be connected?

if no bed view cam you probably dont have a VPM or harness to do this.  on mine, for turn signal camera view to display automatically trailer has to be plugged in.

[emoji35][emoji35][emoji35] wish the dealer would have told me that. Then again though I don't think it would have changed my decision the rollback the LTZ.

I guess the options were a truck that I liked with a powertrain that I thought was possibly one of the worst modern systems I've ever driven. (5.3 / 8 speed)

Or a powertrain I like in a truck (3.0) but none of the options I want (no sunroof, no park sensors, no cameras, cloth seats) 2020 Elevation

You maybe the person to ask, as you sound like you have experience with all things cams. I, like you have an RST with the trailer camera provisions and a bed cam. I also have front parking sensors and when it goes into the red it triggers my back up camera. It’s almost like if I had the front camera it would trigger it. Any way to add a front camera to my current set up that you know of? Thanks and awesome job on the swap.

Adding just a single front camera would be a nice alternative to buying a bunch of cameras. Curious about the answer!

There are 5 ports on your video processing module.  one to send image to radio, one for rear cam, one for bed view, and 2 for trailer.  trailer buttons can only be pressed if a trailer is plugged in.  so you could use those ports but you would need to trick truck into thinking a trailer is there. You could use bed view port to put a front cam on if you didnt care about having bedview cam.  then you could push bed button to see front view.  you need to buy 10 port module to do what i did. thanks!

Thanks for the insight. I’ll probably never use the inside trailer view. Kinda strange it has the front parking sensors switch the rear cam on and not have a provision somewhere to add the front camera. Be nice of some one is able to come up with a lockpic type set up like they have for older vehicles.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
