Good day Y’all,

Been having a dilemma on whether or not to just get a new muffler and delete the flapper with it or just throw on a full cat back and dump the extra cash with it? Mainly looking for a bit more sound nothing insane, looking at MBRP or Borla S type muffler

Thanks

I'm in the same boat. Debating if it's worth the extra money for all the piping or if i should just swap mufflers and weld on a new tip. I guess with a catback system you are getting a larger diameter piping with less restrictive flow. Overall performance would be better, sound would be about the same. I've been looking at the borla s-type or the new flowmaster flowfx catback. On my last truck i just swapped in a magnaflow muffler and it sounded fine.

I was thinking along the same lines until my mechanic (not dealer) told me that if I just do the muffler and there are issues that GM may not cover any warranty issues related.  He said that he talked to a GM tech and that only direct replacements are covered.  I was putting a Magnaflow on in place of the stock POS with flapper.  I am looking now at the aFe or Flowmaster 40 cat back set up and keep the current bumper tips.

I'm really liking the flowmaster american thunder catback system. But I'm going to wait until i can swap  my regular LT chrome bumper for a black RST or Trail Boss bumper so I can run the quad black exhaust tips.

I did the Borla S type and then added back the stock resonators. Perfect sound for me. Mellow with no resonance drone and still talks to you when you nail it. Performance gain is iffy but the CAI made up the difference. 70-75 mph it is just as quiet inside the truck as it was with stock exhaust.
