Im looking to do a Eibach leveling kit on my 2018    It appears once I level the truck I will need to replace the stamped steel uppers since they are inferior.   Each aftermarket company uppers claims to rub with factory rims and 33's.   Can I install 2014 aluminum uppers on my 2018???.   Has anyone done this to their 2018?

I am looking at the Eibach leveling pro kit that comes with adjustable shocks and new springs.  Has anyone used the Eibach kit?    I was told by Eibach that some aftermarket control arms interfere with the spring.   This makes me believe the 2014 alum upper swap may be the ticket????

if your truck came with steel uca you cant put aluminum control arms in. the 2014 like mine has a different steering knuckle

So Readylift control arms fit 14-18 trucks that had alum or stamped is what throws me off as far as fitment?    What makes the knuckle different on your truck ?

description from readylift uca

  • Fits 2016.5 to current GM 1500 trucks and SUVs that came with Stamped Steel upper control arms.
  • Will also work on 2014-2016 GM 1500 trucks that came with factory aluminum control arms

Rock Auto replacement stock uppers show the same part number for 2018 and 2014 in the aluminum??   Hope someone has tried to mount them on a 2018 !!

which ones are you planning on going with? for the cost it may just be cheaper to get a leveling kit that comes with the UCA as they are meant to fix ball joint angles associated with the lift.

so even though you wont rub with OE aluminum arms, they still will have an improper angle...supposedly.

Personally, i am using the rubbing as an excuse to go with aftermarket wheels and sticking with stock arms and a 2" level

GM discontinued the aluminum arms.  If you have a truck with aluminum arms and they needed to be replaced, GM superseded them to the stamped arms.  The last time they were used in production was very early 2016 trucks.  Part # is gone from the catalog too and supersedes to the stamped #s.

Stamped and aluminum use the same knuckle, the forged steel control arm trucks use a different knuckle.  That is why the stamped/aluminum are interchangeable for the aftermarket.

I was considering  Readylift arms with Eibach springs and struts.   I want my stock 20" wheels for winter and ok with buying other wheels but for summer.   Also spare tire must fit.

I was looking at the aftermarket replacement aluminum from rockauto.    Thank you for the info.   So the only other question is with a 2.5 leveling will the aluminum be ok or will they wear out because of angle?    Not sure if these tubular aftermarket guys are capturing the angle problems and just making the ball joint re-inforced?

ah ok that makes sense.

could always just run a stock size tire for the winter. You want a skinnier tread anyways for snow.

The aftermarket arms exist for a reason sadly.  Stock or aftermarket stock arms will hate their life on a 2.5" level and not last.  2 inches is the limit and even that can be a touch too much.

IMO I'd get the corrected angle aftermarket arms.  https://www.readylift.com/tubular-upper-control-arm-kit-2017-2018-chevy-silverado-1500-gmc-sierra-1500-1.html

The readylfit were my first choice until they told me a 1/2 spacer was needed for the front wheels.   Also hope they clear the Eibach beefy coil springs.   I may call readylift and ask if they tried them with those springs because Eibach would not tell me what brand did in fact interfere.

    • We have now!  2027 GMC Sierra  Early look, but I'm a GMC guy and so far I think I like the looks of the Chevy better.
    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
