2014 Sierra Cruise/Info Controls change-out

Hey all! New here looking for some guidance. Bought a 2014 Sierra used and info and cruise buttons on the wheel are worn out and rubbed off. I can’t really find any guidance or videos to show the best way to change these out. I would guess removing the airbag would be where to start, but that’s why I’m here to get some help from anyone that’s done it.

The buttons on the back side of the wheel pop off, exposing a torx screw that holds it in. You can likely finagle the trim off but a small portion of it sits under the airbag. Best to remove the airbag to be safe.

Here is a video from Tinkering Fox on upgrading the wheel to a heated wheel. He shows how to remove the airbag.
