I have had so many problems with my LML Duramax engine that I stopped using it for long trips. With some emissions related problems I could go to 4 different dealers and the problem would not be fixed. Finally found a fifth dealer with a competent mechanic to fix the problems with the first visit.

There are problems with the sensors (NOx, DEF tank, DEF warmer, DEF pump, and with the wiring harness and with the programming that tries to diagnose problems. Three vacation trips in a row had to be cancelled due to emission controls problems. Very few mechanics have any ability to troubleshoot the problems and depend 100% on an error code to know where to start.

Many of the problems are bugs in the code, for example my truck went into limp mode and the error code indicated that the DEF tank was empty when it actually was 100% full. Only option was to drive at 55 mph a couple hundred miles back to my house. Driving on an interstate at 55mph and trying to safely merge with traffic, including the tractor trailer rigs are doing 70mph, is dangerous. I will never own a vehicle that puts myself and my passengers at risk with "limp modes".

What year was your LML?

Just had my first issue with my truck. Was pulling my trailer for about 2 hours 2000 lbs maybe, and noticed it was cutting out a little here and there. Came to a stop, sat there idleing for maybe 5 min. Then went to go again, all of a sudden, servce ESC light, service park brake light, and service emision system light, reduced power and was cutting out really bad and really bad shudder feeling. Ideas?

Thanks for the update, I am in a similar situation.  350 or so miles in truck. Got a service transmission, service ESC, traction control, CEL. Dealership called and said maybe an electrical issue. Been there about a week and a half.

Picked the truck up yesterday, service manager said they repositioned ground wires. There were multiple codes - P2122, C2a07, u0131, u0151, u0102, u0140, and u0146, they inspected the engine compartment wiring harness for rub through and connector terminal contact per doc 5568637, repositioned harness and secured per doc. They test drive multiple times and codes did not reset.

the drive home from dealership was uneventful as everything seemed to work fine.

Yeah sounds like assembly issues have not necessarily gone away. I wonder if better positioned strain relief on the harnesses and grounds are needed or just improper assembly to begin with? Did the engineer find this?

Good to hear your up and running again. Better tow with it ASAP to determine if the engine movement will make it return.

Hopefully they fixed it even though after all of your time and issues they couldnt even use the proper service manual document.  That doc# you referenced is information for harness chafing on the 2.7turbo. I imagine they found an issue with your harness about a foot and half from the ECM connectors where the engine harness runs over the alternator.  That may be where your problem lies as well ullose272, it's been showing up on a few trucks.

Update, engineer finally made it today, they spent most the day working on it. Ended up overnighting a engine and injector wiring harness. Hopefully have it back friday

    • From what I gather, you have a 2.7 Diesel  You cannot use Chevron gas in it.  Howes has a diesel add-in and it states it cleans injectors.  Me personally, wouldn't bother with it.  If it's not broke, don't fix it.     Just my two cents worth.
    • Looking up on the web you can the information that would seem obvious. You asked engine components to do more. You get more wear. The answer is they can last just as long but required more maintenance. Apparently having to change lifters, cam and associated components are maintenance or repairs. In some research the normal life span of valve train components are 80-100 miles with 3-5K miles oil change. So the next logical conclusion would be cost per mile. I use that analogy with my wife all the time with vehicles. My Odyssey is approaching 170K. The cost per mile will go up at 200K with maintenance. Looking at a low cost car. A K-4 with a 10-10 warranty. Selling my Ridgeline that’s about to hit the same maintenance milestone. My argument becomes not only I get worry free driving. But at no cost increases. Because I take the money from my Ridgeline and maintenance savings and other potential savings. I’m driving for free. So tying it with a bow. It makes you wonder. Is this a grand conspiracy by the auto makers? Raise the potential maintenance high enough. Buyers by extended warranty to 100K miles. Do the minimum maintenance required. Trade in at the warranty end. How long should they last? That question is what keeps people up at night. The answer is much more complicated than it used to be.
    • Could you cite your source on this?  I cannot find any reference to the US secretly taking the oil.  I find references that the US helped oil tankers move through the Strait of Hormuz, but nothing about what you're stating.
    • Same thought, also the everything doesn't have the details real photos do (talking about the noise in the photo)
    • Since the media YOU and your buddies are programmed to watch failed to mention this, I'll fill you in.   Trump admitted today that we've grabbed 150 MILLION barrels of oil from the Iranian tankers locked in the Strait by our Navy. We turned off their transponders, took them out to sea in the dark of night since they have zero radar capabilities anymore, offloaded every drop onto another vessel, and put them back by morning so no one was the wiser. That oil has been en-route THROUGHOUT the entire conflict.   Main reason he admitted this is to let even guys on our own side who joined leftists in complaining about the prices that he hears us all, and has taken steps to make sure this didn't spiral into a BAD situation ... just like the mainstream media has been PRAYING would happen, just so they could gloat. Amazes me how these people are rooting for the destruction of THEIR OWN HOME, just to make a President they don't agree with or like look bad! That's next level TDS!   I know your not capable of giving our President the benefit of the doubt, again due to your deep programming, but THIS is why oil never hit $150 a barrel as predicted by your programmers, AND the reason oil continues falling. Like I said before, Trump's got a plan, and this is proof of it. By the end of his term, we're going to be in GREAT shape for a change!   Since I just spent $3,000 this week on #2 heating oil and gasoline, the war most certainly is ending! 🤣   https://mxmnews.com/article/ba359ac9-2711-4851-92de-187f2400f2dd?breaking-trump-cancels-iran-strikes-deal-now-approved-by-all-parties
