Ltz4 me? Posted October 20, 2020 Posted October 20, 2020 If I had battery disconnected for 12 hours to reset ECM -positive & negative leads-( if this even works?) (Or should I unhook negative battery terminal and turn headlight switch on?) Does this delete all the updates that a dealership has done?

No, the updates are written to memory, they are not temporary. What's going on?

The trucks computer is like an actual computer, it has 2 types of memory. The hard drive and RAM. The dealership would add updates into the hard drive, which won't be deleted unless accessed by the dealer scan tool or a tuning software. The RAM stores changing, or constantly updated, memories. This way the memory can never get full and is always updating to the most relevant information that the vehicle needs. Example: The ECM stores fuel trims in the RAM. This lets it constantly learn for new fuel, altitude and temperature changes. The TCM would store the learned shifting pressures and patterns in RAM so it can always change. 1
Ltz4 me? Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 Ok good I disconnected battery to do a tranny relearn procedure and it's made it worse shifting than before but this helps me narrow down my next thing I do as long as it won't lose the transmission updates from no power to system... Thanks

So if running a tune from a Superchips tuner.its lost the updates from dealership?

It might erase and overwrite the hard drive, or it just adds it on top. The Superchip might be causing all of the problems with your tranny. A custom tune could be what you need
Ltz4 me? Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 No I don't think The super chips is the issue b/c it shifted like this before I used it. I bought it to delete AFM and get rid of bump from behind feeling at stopping... It's still doing same thing but shifts in-between are sloppy now since I unhooked battery for 12 hours/ did relearn procedure.
Ltz4 me? Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 And ontop of all this my infotainment screen has a mind of its own and it could be that's it's a 8l90 tranny. All I know is I traded my 07 in for this to get a "nicer" truck and so far I'm saying never again gm( by far the worst truck I've ever drove and I'm not sure any dealership will know what to do from what I read on here)
