General Lee 01 Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 You might as well put a F-16 against the Starship Enterprise.

Frank S Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 Oh my. It didn't even seem like the 'vette was trying at first in the actual race either. Street racing is pretty dangerous and I really don't condone it but that's an awesome video.
Tungsten Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 Very nice, But I would not call that Eclipse rice, It runs 13's, So i mean its still a pretty quick ride, but the vette did eat him up.
Frank S Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 Sorry but I have to question that 13.0 quarter claim. On the actual dead stop race pert of that video they only went about 1/8 mile and the 'vette sucked him up pretty bad. If that Talon is a 13 second car then that puts the 'vette in the mid to low 11's at the rate he was going.
Firetiger(MN) Posted June 9, 2002 Posted June 9, 2002 If it's origin is the Far East. Then it's rice. And it is, so it will be called said rice. Plus it isn't a V-8. That's my definition of rice. Anyway, the punks got smoked. What did he say in the video? "I'm not scared". Then the Vette blew by him and they crapped their diapers. that was great. :baa:
Josh Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 That vette is to die for! The way that thing pulled away!!! Awesome!
MarkD Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 In the "actual race" it was obvious that the Vette had more power than traction. That is what gave the rice the lead. Once he got something that resembled traction, the mismatch became obvious. With drag radials the rice would have never seen the front of the vette. I just put a set on a 91 Z28 (396 stroker) today that would spin street tires as long as it wanted to (measured 282 feet one time). With drag radials, it will spin 5-10 feet. It would be pretty good competition in the 11's without the Vette's NOS. With the bottle, the Vette is probably very close if not in the 10's (with good tires)
Tungsten Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 Rice is gay stickers and weird exhaust, We have PLENTY of AWD Talons that can do the 1/4 in 13secs or less around me, I don't see why that vet was not runnin 11's, listen to it, It was once bad butt ride, either way both cars were pretty quick.
CMNTMXR81 Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 That guy is in Cedar Rapids Iowa. He posts on the Corvette Forum as he answered a thread about this their. The Corvette in mention is a Doug Rippie Motorsports heads and cam package (the 450 pacakage I believe) and possibly more done on the rotating assembly that he isn't telling us. On top of which, he's running 150 shot of nitrous. At the end of the day, that car is a low 11 to high 10 sec 1/4 miler. That Talon, with it's AWD, can legitimately run 13's with some light work. I think the exact timeslip for that car was 13.0 @ 103mph. Pretty darn quick and would give some stock Vette's and F-bodies a hard time (note I said SOME). Against a Vette that is putting down in my estimation in the neighborhood of 450hp at the rear wheels and runs low 120's in the 1/4, it makes it apparantly obvious why that Vette once traction is obtained, simply hits the afterburners against that DSM. And like mentioned, that was only like an 1/8'th of a mile. The Vette owner got out of it once he realized that the Talon was his bitch. Had they completed the 1/4, I'd bet it'd been by 15 car lengths.
CityTruck Posted June 10, 2002 Posted June 10, 2002 It was the "ricer" that recorded and shared the video (even though he didn't win). I think that takes some measure of class as most "ricers" won't share if they don't win.
