This and your previous post, I don't think we're talking about the Rearview Camera/mirror. I'm guessing OP is talking about his sideview mirror as he mentioned tints, but posted a picture only of his rearview mirror. Unless his back glass is tinted in which he should be using the rearview camera in that case...which leads me to believe we're talking about the sideview mirror.

 

Also the camera display doesn't auto dim when it's on. The auto dimming is only for when the regular mirror is engaged.

 

Finally, I was talking about the mirror itself, not the DRZ/CWM functionality. Another case which I was confused on why he would have trouble seeing out the mirror, if he has the rear camera display...again leading me to believe we're still talking about sideview mirrors.

 

That being said, I'm not sure where the sideview mirror dimming sensor is. I have a feeling there is a sensor on that mirror itself and it doesn't feed off of the rearview mirror's sensor. I looked at mine and couldn't determine, usually there is a little dot you can see under the glass.

Tape over the sensor did not stop the dimming.  I appreciate all of the tips.  

 

It is an LTZ with the Tech package.

Are you talking about the rearview mirror dimming or the sideview mirror dimming?

I guess nobody read my post earlier in this thread? The sensor for the non camera mirrors is on the back side of the mirror. The sensor reads the outside light and determines whether or not to dim. If you cover the sensor it will read that it is dark outside and turn the dim feature on all the time. Probably the only way to stop the dim feature is to find the fuse that controls it and take it out. The sensor on the rear view controls the whole dim system. The mirror on the windshield and the drivers side mirror on the door.

I'm not sure I follow you? From my experience, it doesn't dim only when its dark...just the opposite. It senses when you are getting light from behind and dims. Therefore covering whatever sensor senses the light from behind should prevent dimming, no?

The dimming system turns on at night. The sensor see that there is no light and turns it on automatically. If you cover the sensor it will think it's dark outside all the time and the dimming system will be on during the day when it's bright and sunny out.

Wait, so there’s no glare sensor on the mirror side, and it just dims whenever it’s dark? Seems unsafe and cut rate. You want to see as much as possible when there isn’t glare present.
 

Older GM mirrors have the ambient light sensor in the front to enable the auto-dim, and a glare sensor on the mirror side to trigger the dimming when glare is present. To beat the system you’d cover the glare sensor, not the ambient light sensor.

This dot is what you want to cover, not the back sensor. Unless this dot is just a mirage, it’s the glare sensor.

I appreciate all of the help on this.  There is no sensor like the black dot on my mirror.  I just wish Chevy would have made this an option to disable in the control center.
