To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I’ve always been a Chevy fan, our family is a Chevy family. My wife is coming up on her 4th Tahoe. She still has her 67 Camaro from high school. I still have my 57 pickup from high school. I just bought a 70 C10 for the ranch. 16 hours before the incident I had traded in a 19’ Tacoma TRD PRO. I needed a bigger truck since we moved from LA to CO with 40 acres. Loved the Trail Boss in Satin Steel and the 6.2l. Local dealer had one, just wanted to drive one and ended up buying it that day. Well fast forward to running around town (30 miles from dealer) my truck full of groceries and as I get off the freeway it stalls. I got it started again, dash lights popping up and limp it to a side street. I wanted to puke. 16 hours after purchase and it’s already broken. Called dealer and they told me to call onstar so it could be towed back to them as they bring me a loaner. 3 hours later they finally showed up. That’s a whole other s*%t show story for another time. Now that I’m researching I came across the valve spring problem. I was hoping that was a certain batch that was built at the end of September. Maybe my truck falls into that. Just have a horrible taste in my mouth. I loved the truck for those 16 hours. I know the service bulletin says they have to replace all 16 valve springs if that’s the case. Hope there isn’t more damage to the engine. If it needs a new engine what are my options? Kind of don’t want the truck back if it comes to that. Also a parking light message showed up too. Hope everyone else is having a better Christmas. Sorry for the long first post.

I'm sorry that this happened to you bud. I heard about the valve spring thing. I have a 2020 Trailboss with the 6.2 and love this thing. I hope they can make the repair and it happens quickly. Good luck and keep us updated .

If it is the valve spring, it's about a 50/50 shot you'll need a new long block like myself.  Make sure they are thorough like my dealer was.  They borescoped and then pulled the heads to check for scoring (there was some).   New engine en route.

Will do. How much time has passed so far for you? Is this effecting a lot of trucks or a small batch? Talk about a horrible first impression. Going to take my C10 4-speed to run errands, they don’t make em like they used to.

That sucks it’s happened to you. Best of luck. Remember it is a vehicle and they can break. Be demanding yet thorough with the dealership and make sure they do it correctly.  Also make sure to call GM personally and get a case number started for your truck.
My 2019 High Country is in the shop now with a few issues getting taken care of.  It sucks that I don’t have it but I made sure they look over everything and I didn’t want it back until it’s fixed correctly.
My loaner truck is a 2021 RST. I’m not minding it at all racking up the miles in it, instead of my own over the holidays??

Again, hope all goes well with yours and take care.

Thanks will do. I’ll give them a call on Monday. I wish I had another truck to drive. They gave me this little turd called a Trax. I parked it away from the house and have been driving my 70 C10. LOL I know they can all break as I work on my classics all the time but after 197 miles on a brand new truck I fully expected it to last a Iittle longer than that.

Welcome to Colorado. Which dealer is doing the work? Castle Rock Buick Chev GMC (formerly Medved)?

Mike Maroone Chevrolet North in CO Springs. The service manager seems on top of it and proactive.

Wife's Traverse came from Mike Maroone. When the dealer 1st changed from Al Serra to Mike Maroone the service went down hill. It has gotten much better in the last year.

    • I agree with Tim.  As tech heavy as engines are these days, no way I’d be an early buyer of the new 6.6.  Of course, I bought my ‘26 Denali w/the 6.2 after dumping my Tundra with it’s defective 3.5 liter imploding engine disaster, so I’m a little gun-shy.  That said, my 6.2 has been rock solid.  I don’t drive it like I do my BMW Z4 M40i, but I don’t baby it either.  I got a V8 for a reason.  But I’m averaging 18 around town and 22 highway.  I have seen 24 highway as well when I wasn’t loaded up heavy.  Considering my Tundra with the twin turbo V6 only got 14.5 in town and 17 on the road, I’ll take the 6.2 all day, every day.  If I were you, I’d grab a ‘26 while you can.  Inventories are probably gonna start dropping and I’ll bet the deals will start looking sweeter as well.
    • I am curious if anyone has figured out a way to add an hard button AUX or 360 Camera switch to the center row of switches. I have a 2021 AT4, and want to split the hill decent button and add a 360 camera button so that you don't have to go into the center display and locate the camera functionality, etc...   My father's 2024 Yukon XL AT4 and it has a hard button, see below. I found this thread on the Yukons, but it seems like there may not be a part number for the 2021 sierras. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/255339-adding-hard-button-for-camera-on-2021/ Anyone else figured this out. Seems like it would need to be a custom switch!   I am getting ready to install the auto stop/start eliminator, so would be nice to knock them out at once.     Upvote1Downvote0Go to comments
    • Looks like the entire state is burning. 😬
    • Through the years it hasn't been my typical method as I tried to drop oil on an engine that was hot from having been worked, however that was not always practical and had to fire up a unit and let it warm up reasonably well and drop the oil when I had the time to do it but am referring to not only vehicles but a variety of farm equipment and highway tractors etc. However on a vehicle where one is crawling under it and the exhaust is nearby to ones body and if wanting to pull the plug without danger of being hit with boiling hot oil or attempting to remove a HOT oil filter, its sure safer and easier to not have everything smoking hot and can remove the filter right away when under the vehicle and let it all drain. Of course its not the end of the world if a bit of oil stays in the engine that might have eventually found its way out, I like to get out as much as possible but any oil changes that take place in shops would rarely be sitting around for very long at all before the plug is thrown back in and filter slapped on and oil poured in and sent out the door quick like. There would be very little time spent ( assuming they even did it ) in starting the engine with oil to fill the filter, then waiting to verify the level on the stick. A good reason to check ones oil level shortly after a shop changed the oil on a vehicle just to make sure its correct and to look under for any oil around the drain plug or filter.
