I recently purchased a 2021 RST with the 5.3L. I noticed most of the RST trucks have a dual exhaust.. Mine does not. I do not have the z71 package.. Is that something that is only included in the z71 package?

To be clear, it isn’t true dual exhaust. It is a Y after the muffler.

Is there anything different other than a single pipe versus dual pipes? Resonators are all the same and muffler is the same? Not super important as I already own the truck but I didn’t know the amount of options available for these trucks!

I figured it wasn’t true duals.. I really like the look of it. Honestly that is probably the ONLY thing I would change about the truck. Other than that I have every feature plus some on it.

I believe everything else on the exhaust is the same.  The dual exhaust trucks also have different rear bumpers with exhaust cut outs.

Really should be called a "Dual Outlet Exhaust" but GM never misses a chance to use some deceptive verbiage. (Like my Highway Terrain (HT) tires on my Z71 package that GM claims are All Terrain (AT) tires)

It is really just an appearance package as the exhaust is fundamentally/functionally the same. The RPO code is "N10- EXHAUST, DUAL WITH POLISHED OUTLETS". Again it's not a dual exhaust regardless of what GM chooses to call it. It's a single exhaust with dual outlets.

Yup, need to have the Z71 package to get dual exhaust on the RST.

You also get it with the 6.2L on the RST.

And the comments about it being dual exhaust... Lol. Very few of ANY vehicles are true duals these days. "Dual exhaust" in modern terms = dual exit. Still sounds (and looks) better than the single exits.

Yeah, I’m in the minority opinion that the single exhaust looks better to me.   Especially like the bigger single exhaust of the 2500 diesel.

Me too. That might just be because I think the dual exhaust outlets on the Silverado look cheap and cheesy.

I personally like the dual look. Sounds the same to me as the single. I have to admit it sounds much better then my previous truck having the EcoTec3 4.3L.. HUGE upgrade as far as power and throttle response. Has anyone put a more appealing tip on the single  exhaust then just the pipe??

It's definitely a cost, but you can always search for a dual exhaust bumper (local shop take-offs, eBay or buy the part from GM parts websites), get it painted if necessary and buy the dual pipes.  I remember a couple of fellows here did it.  I asked about this as well when I first got my truck.

I love the dual exhaust outputs on my RST.......looks very nice and adds a touch of class IMHO.

Really could care less that it is not a true dual exhaust....
