How to SUCCESSFULLY install an Escalade shifter in 14-18 trucks

I want to start out and say that I’m super pumped about this finally being accomplished. I’ve heard and read before where members have tried, but couldn’t get the manual shifter buttons to work. I was inspired by Phil Gamboa to tear into this and get it working. After checking out the four wires(2 white for towhaul and two black for manual mode) I figured that trying to re-pin the plug wouldn’t work. It would likely just reverse the polarity of the momentary buttons. Picture of the escalade shifter vs stock one. Gm #25807853 is the shifter I used. It fits the 08-14 Escalade. GM used a different switch inside that will not communicate with the bcm if you just plug it into your truck. All you have to do is just swap the internals over to the Escalade, and you’re golden!! 439fad5d0c82017a0a456efa906d9d16.jpg

Start by taking a small plastic pry tool and slowly pop the button out. It’ll come out relatively easy. 11ca89c91143a3c9c2d476aec852993f.jpg

You’ll expose the switch underneath. Take a small pick and push on the small tab to release it and it’ll come out slowly. 8165a454546b4366a8a11ce4b2fe9f7a.jpg

Once you pull it out, you can pop up the two smal white tabs on the side of the plug and the cover will come up. I marked one wire on the jst terminal and the side of the plug so I knew which wire went where, in the event that I mixed them up. Once you pull the switch out, repeat this same process on the Stock shifter to get to the internal button. Just swap the old internal buttons to the new escalade shifter, and just put everything back together. That’s it! Towhaul and the manual shifter buttons now work!!6f634438f97d884cc41a11e9bb93b492.jpg

I take it the outside button is easy to swap?

Guys have tried to swap the Escalade shifter, but only towhaul worked, not the manual shift buttons, so they always stuck with a Denali shifter which is leather wrapped. Swapping the internals allows the manual shift buttons to work and tow haul, so it’s now 100% functional. The Escalade shifter just has some chrome on it to match the other interior accents.

That's really a good look! Wanted a leather shifter for myself and I just got a period correct denali shifter off ebay as I'm not a fan of chrome but I had no idea you could pop the switches out! This will come in handy big time because my denali shifter buttons have always felt really soft compared to my factory shifter. Great content and looks awesome! +1[emoji106]

Does the tow/haul indicator at the end of the Escalade stick light up when it’s on? It is it just stamped there?

      Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.

      I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
