Dealer gave me a GM aluminum skid plate (same one that comes with the Z71/X31 package) for free.  It got me thinking, is there any concern of galvanic corrosion since it is bolted to the steel crossmembers?  I know there is the wax there but is it enough?  Does it matter?

Sorry my OCD gets me thinking of these things.

They have used aluminum on these trucks for years. Has not been a big problem. I have a new to me 2000 model Z71 and just recently removed the plate to grease the old zerk enabled steering and it was in great shape. No issues.

My '93 shows no sign of corrosion. Have to swing it down every 3k for maintenance, which means I see/put my hands on, it often.

I don't know what they are using now, but some generations of the transfer case plate were a VERY high strength steel.
