Oil burning, where is it going?

Your wrong because I leaned mine out to .87 to .88 lamaba and it still blew smoke on 93.

 

Your right because even though the wideband was reading .88 the SOI was injecting to long and spiting raw ruel out of the exhaust valve and causing black smoke.  But this wasn't effecting the wideband.

 

That's Crazy.. What brand was it? I've been looking at tapping the y-pipe for a wide ban. I'll stay far away from that one!

aem 30-0300,  But in futher reading,  other people with camaro's and vette that where blowing black smoke didn't show up on the wideband as being super rich.

Well, I did a quick google search and burning oil usually results in blue tinged smoke, fuel is black, white or grey smoke is just steam, OR worst case scenario burning coolant from a blown/leaking head gasket.

How much smoke are you guys talking? Mine does smoke at start up/wot sometimes, but nothing I'd consider ab-normal. I was thinking it was a MASSIVE cloud, which is not normal. At tip in you will likely see black smoke but you shouldn't be seeing it continue as you accelerate. How long the truck has been running does impact this. Hotter engine = less black smoke

Enough to make a small cloud LOL.  Hard to explain and I should have made a video before I fixed it with the SOI table.  It's not a just a puff.  If I hit it hard at a stop light,  it was enough to make to see two lanes coming through the cloud.  It was black smoke but not as thick as a desiel.  I mine would clean up above 4,000 rpms.  But thats also when my SOI would drop back down to 320 to 330.

Ah, ok. Yeah I haven't seen it that bad. Just enough that you can maybe see it for a foot from the exhaust tip.

did you do a leakdown test?

 

did you do a comression test?

 

anyone pull a piston out to see if the rings are sludged up and bipassing from oil control rings. 

 

what is your OCI schedule on your oil burners/ what oil you use?

 

how much power are you making if its a tuned truck?

 

are you using the stock thermostat?
