Mystery hose under the coolant surge reservoir

BigdaddyoCan

Question

I just purchased a new 2021 Silverado 1500 LT and was looking under the hood at all the stuff that has changed since my 2006 1500 LS days. I see a hose that seems to have some coolant on it  - maybe an over flow but could not find anything in the manual so hoping someone can help me understand what this is for. More than likely an overflow. Coolant needs to have somewhere to go in case of catastrophic meltdown, otherwise, that reservoir, hoses, and engine become bombs. The weakest link would explode first.

Looking at the part diagram its part of the tank so probably some sort of coolant vent hose/overflow hose.  Looking at the 3.0 diesel tank it has one too.  The hose goes up into a nipple on the bottom of the tank.
