When you think about light bulbs we know they aren't covered under warranty.  However, several of the lights on the upper level trims don't have bulbs to replace because they are LED.  For example, I have a 2020 Trail Boss LT.  From the factory the headlights, tail lights, and fog lights are all LED.  Some models, such as LTZ, High Country, and those with the Midnight Edition package also have LED turn signals.

Now, here's the purpose of my thread.  My left fog light is out.  I went to pull the bulb so I could get a number and be able to replace it, however I found out there's no bulb.  The light sticker plugs into the whole light assembly.  When I looked up the cost for a replacement fog light on GMPartsDirect I found no bulb listed, and the whole light assembly is over $100.  Thinking I would find the part cheaper at Rock Auto, I searched there, too.  That's when I became aware there's a core charge for the fog light of $50.  With the core charge, on Rock Auto the cost for the fog light is $166.

Now, if this was a simple bulb I could see event laughing and telling my to spend $2 to get a knew bulb, but that's clearly not an option.  And, half the time I use my fog lights the left light will come on.  However, a few minutes down the road and it'll start randomly flashing.  The other half the time it doesn't light up.

Do you think the dealer will warranty the lamp, or are they going to try selling me?

The LED fixtures are covered under 3/36.  If you look at your GMC or Chevrolet warranty tracker you will see incandescent bulbs covered for 12/12.

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous, imo. I hope the LEDs last a long time based on transient's post, because 100+ to replace a 2 dollar bulb.

There's no bulb, unless you consider the whole fog light assembly a bulb.  Imagine the outrage for a LED headlight that's $600-$1,000.

Sorry you're correct. I mean it in the context that you can buy replacement pcb's with diodes for 5 bucks. But it's going to be a real bad day when people are starting to have to replace this stuff in the future. It's almost like they want these new vehicles to be disposable.

Baja Designs has a very nice replacement for the factory fogs that adds double the light output.

Isn't that meant for trucks that don't already have factory fog lights?

I suppose you might be wrong. Of course, such simple lighting as LED strips is hardly covered by the warranty because it is too small and very easy to replace (if you know how). However, it's quite possible to guarantee such a product as a bright LED spotlight for a dome or fog lights. When I bought my spotlights on vont.com, I got a three-month warranty. It was a good purchase. The light beam coming out of the spotlight was very high-quality, distant, bright. I like how it works. Why don't you ask the store employees if they have any light bulbs or spotlights subject to warranty?

Yes! The new style General Motors vehicle front and rear headlights with the LED bulbs you cannot get to are fully covered by the 3 year 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty. I just had my rear hatchback taillight assembly replaced on our 2021 Chevy Traverse. They had it 2.5 days though due to the number of people out there now getting their vehicles repaired over buying new. So please know that this is fully covered by the warranty because there is no way to get to those bulbs and replace the individual bulbs. It’s truly sad to think of the future for a lot of people with these vehicles after warranty is up because these assembly’s to replace are between $300-$500. Isn’t it fun as time passes by in this world? Companies get smarter at taking our money. :-(
