So guys. Have a question for ya’ll

i got a trans filter drain and refill done on my 16 Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3 at the dealership about 2 months ago just because I plan on keeping my truck for a while . Started hearing some very strange noises/grinding almost but would go away, most noticeable in 1st and 2nd and occasional burning smell when stepping on the gas.

checked trans fluid level today after driving it and fully warmed up , fluid is barely touching the end of the dipstick .

I have an appointment to go in this week and just curious if I should request a new trans or something due to the dipstick barely even showing fluid while hot. Long term I’m sure this will cause issues.

what’s your guys thoughts on this?

When you take it in just make sure they document everything.  This is the same place that did the previous maintenance correct?  Hopefully they will drop the pan and inspect it.

How many miles did you put on it after they did all that?

Also remember to go in and be nice.  It usually works out better than going in with an attitude.

Yes they have done a bunch of previous work for me. I’d hope they’d do something to but we’ll see when I go in. I’ll be sure to mention I realized the fluid was barely on the dipstick . Around 3,500 miles if I had to guess. I gotcha, yeah I’m never an ass going into these places for issues. At the end of the day they are the ones that will be fixing it , hopefully Atleast haha.

ALWAYS CHECK FLUID LEVELS AFTER A SERVICE.

They won't give you a new transmission, they'll top it off and say it's good to go. You can try to get someone to come out when you arrive and check the level with them so now they can't say "it was fine when we pulled it in"

Also make sure to note whether or not there is a leaking condition, if not, be sure to tell them that or, if you notice were it is parked that there is "Something" leaking that wasn't leaking before, be sure to tell them.
