MarkD Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Does anyone have the procedure for this? Maybe from a Helms manual? The Installuniversity.com procedure doesn't work with our trucks.
Zane Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 You tried holding down both buttons for 15 seconds, untill your horn beeps?
MarkD Posted June 24, 2002 Author Posted June 24, 2002 I am trading and don't plan on giving an extra keyfob I bought to the dealer. I want to have an extra for the '02. To answer the question, no I haven't.
gmcjoe Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Here's something I found online, I haven't tried it myself ;) Transmitter Programming Procedure (Method 1 - No Tools Required) 1.Close all the vehicle doors. 2.Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder. 3.Press and hold the door unlock switch. 4.While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF. 5.Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode. 6.Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter. 7.Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters. 8.Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode. 9.Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.
CMNTMXR81 Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 What is the process at install university (I don't have the time to check it out). There are about 5 procedures GM has ranging from simply holding the lock and unlock buttons for 15 seconds, up to having to connect a TechII scanner and have it reprogram all fobs. Even between the same line of vehicles, they can vary.
MarkD Posted June 24, 2002 Author Posted June 24, 2002 Remove radio fuse, IGN on/off 3 times lock/unlock same time.
CMNTMXR81 Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 That's the way it is for the F-Bodies, not all trucks are that way.
CityTruck Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Do any of these procedures seem funny to any of the rest of you? To dim the glove box light: 1) Wait until 10:00PM and get in the truck and lock the doors. 2) Roll down the passenger window and rollup the drivers side window. 3) Turn on the headlights while pressing and holding down the horn. 4) Turn on the cargo lamp while still pressing on the horn and hang your left arm out of the passenger side window. 5) Lower and raise the tailgate 3 times (while remaining in the truck). 6) Loosen the phillips screw holding on the passenger side visor 2 complete turns. 7) Press and hold the autotrac button while raising and lowering the center armrest 2 times. 8) Open the glove box with your left foot while turning the dome light on and off 7 times with your right foot. 9) Loosen the wingnut on the jack cover by one half turn while pressing the brake pedal with your nose. 10) ... alright... you get the point... Just seems a little humorous to me. I'm always afraid that I'm going to accidentally reprogram something and I won't have any idea how I did it.
CMNTMXR81 Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 They do that on purpose. It's so you accidently don't re-program your fobs if all the planets are in alignment and the fat lady is singing.
