Dumb question about 2021 gmc 1500 tailgate

Recommended Posts

Is it ok to lower the top part of the tailgate to haul something long like a pole saw? I have seen numerous pictures of the tailgate in different configurations but have never seen one with the gate up and just the top part folded down.

Thanks

I have the CC with the short box. I picked up a bunch of stuff at Lowes on Sunday -left the soft cover closed and the "small gate" open to let the 2x4x8''s stick out.

Another thing they show that position used for is a stand-up desk /worksurface at a worksite.

Admittedly it's not a big area, but for some tasks it could be better than using the full tailgate.

You'll be fine.

I think the only position you don't want while driving is having the whole thing down with the top half then opened down. (Especially with a hitch in place!)

Ps. No dumb questions, but stick around and you'll get a dumb answer eventually!
