I am beyond annoyed and frustrated with GM and my local dealer.  The infotainment system in my truck has been restarting while connected to CarPlay since I got it, however, over the last few months it has been happening almost every-time I drive (most trips are <10 Miles.). I have had it in the shop four times in the last three months and the dealer has had it over 30 days. The dealer said that hopefully there may be a fix coming in January.  The dealer offered to "buy" the truck back at the trade in value and sell me new vehicle at list.  They also told me that if GM were to buy it back it would be for less than trade in, which does not seem right to me.  I told the Dealer's Service Manager that I wanted GM to buy the truck back and he said that he would get back to me.  I have also called GM Customer Care and was assigned an advisor, but cannot get a call back for the life of me over the last two weeks, despite spending hours on hold. This is my first GM truck as my last five were ford, does anyone have any advice on how to get a resolution?

Don't count on the advisor to be much help. He/she will most likely pass it on to an assembly technician who will pass it off to engineering. Then you'll get a call back telling you that there is no problem. That's what happened to me over a problem with my 2019 Sierra. Some people will mention the lemon law. I don't know if that would be an option. Good luck and keep us posted.

Check a couple of things...first your USB cord.  Believe it or not some cords are just crap with these trucks.  Second try moving your USB port assembly slightly while you're plugged in.  Mine is bad and forces a restart everytime along with alerts for missing SD card etc.

If I remember, and I need to check, the owners manual states not to use a charging cord to connect. I made that mistake first time I connected.

That is not true, your dealership is not buying the truck back, GM is, and they determine fair market value.

GM will own the truck outright, and it will sit on the dealers lot until they come get it.

Then they will take it to a local auction, at which point your dealer then can buy it for their inventory.

Sounds like someone just wants your truck, and is trying to make a "shady" car deal at your expense.

How do you use Carpaly without connecting the cord? 19-20 don't have wireless Carplay.

Yes, you have to use the cord in the 2019. I have tried multiple cords, phones, and all three ports.  They also put a new infotainment center in a few weeks ago and the issue happened within the first 15 miles.

Correct. That is why I asked the guy in my post who said the owners manual says NOT to use the cord how he connects to Carplay without it. 😉

I should have clarified. This is from GMC "

First, connect a compatible phone with the vehicle via a USB docking cable. Depending on the vehicle and its equipment, a usable USB port may be located in the center console or glovebox. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for specific details.

Yes, it has to stay connected.

Why not just bluetooth it up to the radio. IDK, I realize you won't have Carplay, which I could care less, I just use my bluetooth for music and making calls. What the h@ll does Carplay have more of other than those 2 things,  anything more than that your eyes won't be on the road ??

Sounds like a millennial rant who cant go without his phone for 2 minutes.

I get what you are saying, but I use Carplay everyday.  I do not like looking down at my phone to look at Google Maps or Waze for directions or voice texting, hell I wont even rent a car that doesn't have Carplay.

You don't have to look down at anything. You can call whoever you need to talk to by pushing the microphone button on steering wheel. As for texts, i have my watch to look at which is facing me when my hands are on the steering wheel.  If i need to respond! I make an "OLD SCHOOL" call instead of texting. Rather hear a voice than keep texting

Not mine or most I hear about and it has been off road plenty and headlight deep in river crossings...

Probably because it is mostly for the navigation. It is much safer and easier to have it on the screen and reading directions through the stereo then hoping to have it loud enough out of the phone and some place not easy to see and follow directions. That is the biggest reason I use it when in unfamiliar places or going somewhere during rush hour to save some time with traffic.

So you chastise this guy for being a millennial that can't be without his phone and you have a smart watch and read texts on it while driving? Come one man, can you be anymore of a hypocrite? Even I am not so attached to my phone that I feel the need to have a smart watch and I am border line a millennial...

Again, calls aren't the issue, the maps are the best part of the auto/carplay which you can't do just streaming.

Now this wouldn't be a lemon law buy back issue to me and it most likely is a cord issue as we have found on our Canyon how some cords work and some don't or constantly disconnect. It also has to be in a good spot it won't shift much or put much strain on the cord so it doesn't move, it is quite finnicky.

I’m not reading text while driving. I see that a text goes through by the vibration of my watch and see that my watch lights up!  Then I give them a call totally different MAN!
So because I can afford a smart watch and choose to Bluetooth my phone I’m a hypocrite. Get out of here.  Plus I don’t need CarPlay because if you’re smart enough.  Which you obviously aren’t. You can run navigation through your phone via Bluetooth.  It all goes through the radio telling you where to turn. Or like My truck came with navigation and I use that also.  Case closed. Anything else you’d like to debate.
