But, regarding the exhaust tips. A lot of municipalities have laws that actually don't allow tips any larger then what it came with from the factory. 

 

For the most part you can push that boundary quite far. But six inch tips is excessive, and will be obvious to even the most unkowledable that it's unique for that vehicle.

Do we measure the rectangular outlets on the current Silverado horizontally or vertically?  Asking for a friend, lol.

It's the diameter, in the case of none circular tips I guess you would use the overall area to determine theoretical diameter.

You took me too seriously.  But, I'll play along.  I recommend, to impress the ladies, you figure the diameter of the rectangular cutouts in the same way you figure a TV screen size:  corner to corner diagonally.  The bigger number might impress somebody, lol.
