I installed an Auto Stop eliminator, which allows you to leave it off until you turn it back on. I believe that this will greatly increase the starter, and possibly battery, life.

My experience has been that starters often have to be replaced at about 100k miles. With the HD auto stop starter and the elimator kit, my starter might last the life of the truck.

The starters on the autostop designated vehicles are reinforced and designed for increased cycles according to the owners manual.  I would assume that it would last longer than a non-autostop designated starter all things being equal, but that is a large assumption on my part and I have zero technical data to support that assumption.
