Aluminum Steering Knuckles - Which Ball Joints to Use

Recommended Posts

Hi, Have a 2013 Silverado 1500, 5.3L V8. I need to replace the lower ball joints. The truck has aluminum steering knuckles and cast steel lower control arms. In looking at the Rockauto web site for lower ball joints most most of not all of the choices have notes on them - without aluminum knuckles. So where do I find lower ball joints that can be used with the aluminum steering knuckles?

This is a Delphi part number for a steel arm. There is a different number for a cast iron arm. I don't ever remember seeing a steel arm though, both of my NNBS trucks had cast iron arms.

According to the Delphi web site catalog, TC1642 is for a Cast LCA and cannot be used with aluminum knuckles.
