Any guesses as to what this connector is for?

Recommended Posts

So I had the driver's side fuse panel off on my 2021 RST Duramx and I found what appears to be an inline fuse holder hanging below the panel.  I reached behind and found that it leads to a connector that was just hanging loose (unconnected) behind the plastic.  The other end of the wires seem to connect somewhere behind the light or 4WD controls.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this or knows what it could be???  Everything seems to be functioning on the truck as expected.

Let's eliminate some things, do you have the factory brake controller?

Yes, factory brake controller. Have the package with the lights in the mirrors.  4WD, but no Z71...

Still have your factory window sticker to see if there were any "dealer installed" items?

Yes, nothing listed.  However, the dealer I bought from does tend to try to sell you on a bunch of that kind of crap.  I told them off the bat that I wouldn't pay for any of it though.  I wonder if they had already prepped it for something, or installed something and then removed it (since the connector isn't connected to anything)...

Hmm, 7 cavity plug with 4 pins being used, does the "plug" in the bottom of the photo have anything on it? Any numbers, letters?

No, nothing written on it.  It looks completely "generic" to me.

Have you checked to see if it is "live" with a continuity tester?

Once again, all just guesses on my part. The more activity we generate, will draw people to the post, and hopefully someone will recognize what it is.

Good call!  I'll check it in the morning.  Thanks for the help!
