Won’t Start After Few Mins Starts

Come out after work or after sitting 4+ hours the truck will do the normal ding and cluster works. But at turn over will click once. After a few times of doing this the truck will start no problem. Checked the battery that is fine. Alternator has been replaced. What else should I be looking for? Starter? Spark plugs? Coils? 2017 Silverado LT with 112000 miles.

Battery cables could be the problem. There is a known issue with corrosion getting inside the battery cables and causing issues.

Up top they are clean and snug. I’ll have to dig deeper underneath. If it’s not the connections have any other ideas with a one click at turn over?

To verify, when it doesn't start, or just clicks, just tap on the starter with (hammer, piece of iron) something heavy, even while somebody holding key in start, if it starts, then it is the starter (dead spot in the armature)

Comman problem, has happened to me and others I personally know. Starter. Change it before it leaves you stranded, like it did to me. Luckily in my own driveway, haha, but it was on July 4th weekend a few years ago.

the starter on my 2018 (1500)went with same symtoms .replaced battery then 3 mos later Click no start had starter replaced at reputable repair shop install starter $750 ($170 labor) (lifetime guaranteed part) unless you've got a lift this will suck.It's been 4 weeks and it starts much better

Most vehicles of all brands when you hit the start button you’re going through the computer for everything. Your pretty much requesting to start. If everything is hunky dory you’re request will be granted. Gone are the days of grinding the starter. My vote is it’s the starter.

Did you ever figure out what this issue was? Does this happen frequently? I am having similar issues but not sure where to look
