There is a new TSB dated March 2023 that recommends replacing lower crankcase extension. I believe it applies only to 2.7L engine.  The TSB number is 23-NA-015.

I had a similar complaint regarding my 2023 Sierra 5.3L. The dealer mechanic thought the TSB would apply to my truck and gave me a copy of the TSB. However, their shop foreman later said that new TSB applies only to 2.7L and that whining noise I have is normal for the 10 speed transmission.

Do you know how to access the bulletin without having to pay the subscription fees? whenever I google it, the only website linked to it is: https://www.repairprocedures.com/bulletins/document/23na015/6265146.html and you have to pay a big amount almost daily

Its balance shaft gear whine.  It is considered NORMAL however there are SOME trucks exhibiting very strong gear whine and GM has a fix, replace the lower crankcase extension assembly.  The LCE Extension is the piece that the lower plastic oil pan attaches to.

Dealer can pull this up in GM's system and THERE IS VIDEO from GM they can play showing normal whine and excessive whine.  Noise affects engines with less than 10,000mi on them.

Supposebly, they've seen the the Bulletin and tried the fix with my truck, but it's still noisy and they could do anything... No solution according to them. I find it very wrong that a brand new car is making such a noise

Hi everyone. Just purchased a 2023 Silverado 2.7L turbo and having the same whining noise at low speeds that you all are referring to. Seems to be a known issue. Also being told by the dealer that this is a normal sound, caused by the turbo which is contrary to what is being said on this forum, and honestly just a shame with a truck/brand like this. Does anyone on here actually have a solve/fix that their dealer or mechanic did for this issue?  Please let me know. Have a 3 day truck I’m really not happy with, genuinely disappointed in Chevy.

I just bought my 2023 Chevy Silverado about a week ago and it's making this stupid noise it's very annoying and also the truck wouldn't turn on on me twice I had to disconnect the negative from the battery so you can turn on what can I do about this can I return it to the dealership and get another truck or what can I do?

Shocked i tell you that the "we won't leave you hanging dealership" ended up throwing their hands in the air and giving up and hiding behind the "It's normal" excuse.

Its not the turbo, its the balance shaft gears.  And its normal.  Drive it.

Then how come some trucks with the same setup don't exhibit this issue or are far less of an issue? Which of course means it's not normal, they just don't have a fix for it and dont care to find one either. Probably just luck of the draw on part content, some tolerances are probably not the same as other parts making some more of an issue than others.
