Help identifying what these items are

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just curios on 2 items I've noticed on my 22' 2500HD Custom w/ 6.6 gas that I'm unsure what they are.  First is this piece on bottom of passenger side mirror.  It's only on the passenger side.

2nd I noticed was when I had grill and headlights removed for headlight swap.  There is a harness with plug beside the passenger side headlight.  Not sure what it's for.  Any ideas?  TIA for any replies.

Those uploaded way too small to see anything.  Got a way of uploading a bigger picture?

First one seems like its the ambient air temp sensor.

Second one I can't make it out at all.

Much better thanks.

Yea the mirror, that's the ambient air temp sensor.

That plug that's blocked off is for the forward collision harness if your truck had front park assist (which Customs do not).

Ah ok so no more temp sensor up front like all previous vehicles I’ve owned.

Figured the harness was some sort of function my truck wasn’t ordered with; was just curious on what.  Thanks for the info!

Interesting...off topic but looking at the pic are the Active Shutters closed or open when the truck is off?

The picture above?  Look closed to me assuming OPs truck is off.

If ambient temp according to the data from the truck is low they will remain closed.  The shutters can open or closed based on things like cooling fan speed, vehicle speed, ambient temp, coolant temp and refrigerant pressure.

I would say that it could depend on the last operating status of them, so if it was 90F outside and they were open, and the next morning its 40F, they'd probably be open until you start the truck and then they might close due to the low ambient temp.
