mine will do it up to 3x depending on the sequence of doors opened and on a morning cold start, as shown on the video. 
mid I open the back door first it will prime or even dropping the tailgate will make it prime. Seems odd. I feel it should only prime if drivers door is opened or key turned. 
 

test yours cold once by dropping tailgate or opening rear doors.

Mine will only do multiple times when sitting overnight. So if you’re has been sitting that long it will be a good test. Try dropping the tailgate then the rear door for testing.

Mine sounds like that when I unlock and open door but as far as I know it only does it once.

Mine will do it once if I do the driver door but let’s say I do the back door first than front door or drop tailgate first it will probably do it twice. And it’s also not consistent if it does it on the key turn or not. So strange only vehicle I’ve had like this

I wrote a check that can't be cashed tonight.  I don't know what I was thinking, I work at the Atlanta Airport.  I couldn't hear a thing....go figure... LOL!!!  Anyhow I'll check it tomorrow before I go to work and let you know tomorrow evening.

Yes and yes.  I started at Delta in Atlanta when I was 20 years old, right out of tech school that I went to in Boston.  I'm probably going to hang out until I hit 62, another 6 years.  It's been a hell of a ride but I've always made great money and have flown all over for free.  So it's been a very rewarding career that has afforded me and my family many great memories traveling and a great life too.  I'm very blessed and never forgot where I came from for sure!

Got some info for you.  So today, I tried my best to make the fuel primer pump go off more than once.  I tried everything, rear door first, front door first, tailgate first, locked it again, tried it other ways, key in the ignition, etc etc....Believe me, I tried all combinations that I could.  The pump primed once when I first unlocked it and never did it again.  No matter what I did, I couldn't make it do it twice.  In all honesty, I have no idea why yours likes to do it more than once.  I could speculate about a possible bad check valve in the fuel system, but in all honesty I don't know if there is one.  I can assume there is one in the system, but every time I assume it generally doesn't work out well for me.  If your truck starts up when you want it to, I'm not sure I would worry about it too much.  And the sound you posted from your pump, sounds exactly like mine.  I don't know what else to try to help.  Edit: I was just thinking that most pumps have a built in check valve to maintain the pressure they just built up.  Perhaps you could find a diagram of the fuel pump and see if it has a check valve built into it.  A failed check valve is all I can think of that would make your pump prime more than one time initally.

Thanks Jet.  I do know it won’t even do it if it was started within about 3hrs. It may be because my truck sits sometimes a few days between driving it. I’ve had it since aug and it’s at 2,400 miles now and about half of that is two trips. 
 

I only worry about premature wear. 
what do you think happens if someone opens the door and the pump primes and they don’t end up ever starting the truck? Does the prime just release eventually?

In all honesty, If your truck starts up when you put the key in and turn it to start.  I wouldn't worry about it at all.  By the way I love the simplicity of our trucks.  They need a key to start, they don't have leather (I hate leather)....I love them both!!!

If I could take one thing away I’d take the direct injection out even if it meant a 1-2mpg hit. I just wonder how it will be long term.

Keep the DI.  Just install a catch can and all will be fine....DI is super efficient.  The only draw back is that it doesn't keep the intake valves clean....that's where a catch can comes into play... Edit:  Let me share my personal thoughts on this amazing engine for just a second.  Personally, I would have designed it with both port and DI.  Cost is always a factor and the engineers are at the mercy of who can do it cheaper and better.  Well port and DI is the best alternative.  You don't have to worry about oil coking on the intake valves and with DI you get the best combustion burn that will allow the lowest octane fuel to be used.  Best of both worlds.  Trade offs....it's not only in life, but with everything else too.....

To get back to my original post here's what I've learned...  So a month ago, 1200 miles later.  In a last ditch effort to quiet that damn oil pump noise I threw in a bottle of lube gard.  After reading from many other forums it was touted as the elixir of oil additives that can actually help without clogging up your oil filter with PTFE and other solids.  I did some deep research on bobistheoilguy site as well concerning this additive before I took the leap.  Well.....I can say for a fact it did quiet it down.  Did it go silent?  No.  But it did lessen that awful start up noise from the oil pump big time.  I'm not due for an oil change (I do it every 5k miles) for probably another few months.  So hopefully it just keeps getting better and better.  At first no change, a week later, a little quieter, now 4 weeks later, much quieter.  So perhaps this stuff actually works. I have 5700 on it now, will need an oil change at 7500.  So hey, I'm trying here, but I can say for a fact that it did lessen the noise.  I'm hoping for zero noise in the next 1k miles but will report back as time and miles accumulate.

    • I am sure that was quite the pass experience and not a great place to experience during the winter when the conditions are not good. I've seen video of that pass and also more detailed information and pictures about the wrecks at that one hair pin turn where tractor trailers have flown right off the cliff and I am sure from all the warning signs that you know the exact curve that was !. After all there is a reason why a song was made about Wolf Creek Pass !. By the way and I didn't realize this either when I bought my truck as its nothing I even thought of that would be programmed into the cruise control and this occurs in either the basic or the more advanced cruise that controls your distance behind a vehicle and that is the brakes going down a hill are being applied as soon as the vehicle goes a certain speed over the set cruise speed. While it certainly does force downshifts in the transmission as you found out with cruise on while going down hill, its also dragging the brakes as needed to keep the speed controlled to what the cruise was set to. For me, I find that unsettling simply because I have no concept then as to how MUCH brake input is being used a and just how hot are those brakes getting and the wear factor as well. I can see that system getting a person into trouble on long mountain grades while pulling a trailer as it would not only be standing on the brakes of the pickup without any driver input, it would also be automatically applying the trailer brakes and it could cause a run away unit by overheating the brakes. Its one thing on a shorter hill and if the driver allows it to do its thing but on a long mountain grade is where things could get so out of hand. As someone a while back on this forum said, they had someone following them at night I believe on a down grade and had the cruise set and the person behind them could see the brake lights being energized all the way down the hill. I figured when I saw your comment that you didn't know and would have no way of knowing that your truck was applying the brakes and that you would and rightfully so assume you only used the brakes when you pressed on the pedal to slow down more than the cruise set speed for the slower sharp curves. So its good knowledge to know this about the newer GM trucks, certainly when doing any descending on long mountain grades. In the future try kicking off the cruise and use the the manual mode on a pass to see what that is like as I know myself when I first experienced it I thought no way can this engine be holding me back this well and tried the same hill in manual mode and sure enough the engine was revving way up and still could not hold the trucks speed down like it could in cruise mode.    Fuel mileage, that is where a really low sleek type of car can do better at higher speeds, certainly it starts sucking fuel too but a tall pickup is pushing massive amounts of air and also allowing a lot more air under it and the tow mirrors as in elephant ears pushing through the wind  as well. Driving like grandpa is about as good as one can do when driving one of these if trying to get the best fuel economy they can. I bet these trucks would get the best mileage they can if driven on a freeway in Florida if not busy traffic at a sedate speed and that sea level elevation without hills, vastly different then Colorado !.
