Yes i understand that but the power train doesn't cover all that much, part content like oil lines, sensors and such are very seldom covered under a PT warranty from what i have seen.

Yes it covers oil lines. This was discussed on here on another topic, I think oil cooler lines leaking . The dealer said they were not covered and another person posted the  power train warranty that said oil lines. It’s on here somewhere. If you read on there pier train warranty on the gm website it states it. Have that information teddy when you go to the dealer , because they will say not covered and then you can show them in GMA own warranty statement

2021 Silverado LT with the 2.7.

53000 miles on it (90% on the highway).

I just got the truck back 2 weeks ago from having its THIRD turbo charger installed.

Last week, a whining/whirring noise started coming from the engine compartment.  And while changing my oil yesterday, noticed oil residue on the surface of the oil pan (that was definitely NOT there the last oil change 5 months ago.)

I've owned countless cars in my 42 years as a licensed driver, and I've never had a vehicle with the number of problems this truck has given me.

I have a 2021 silverado custom with the 2.7 turbo 8 speed transmission.

I have 53000 miles on it and as it is currently under an oil consumption test the torque converter went out and had to be replaced. I am really second guessing buying this silverado now. I love the truck but this is aggravating!

after countless time i was at the dealer for an oil leak, which they said was this and that and never fixed , i think they just waited it out until i was out of warranty. the oil leak was on the back of the engine and they would clean it and heat it up and say no leak found. i waited 3 months before i wanted to post the solution because i wanted to make sure it was fixed. on the back of the engine is what is called the pcv fine oil separator, the leak got so bad that i had keep the heater on recirculate to stop smelling the oil on the exhaust. now that i knew what the leak was i went after the dealership to fix it under the federal emission warranty and of course got told no. then i tried to get the oil separator and was told it was not available. our canadian dealer seem to be behind the times. after search usa dealer i found a different part number for the separator and the canadian dealer said it was available and ordered it. i had oil leaking out of the back of the engine and turbo pipes and now was getting cat codes and air flow codes. took a week to get the separator and gasket. it will take you 7 hours to change the separator because much of the work you have to do by feel because you can't see this separator. anyways sorry about the long post, as i said i wanted to make sure this fixed the problem. so after 3 months i no longer have oil leaking out of the turbo pipes or the back of the engine and only use about a quarter of a quart of oil in 3k miles since the repair.

I wonder how many other 2.7L engines are having this problem? It sounds like after everything you went through the dealer didn't fix the problem? Did you have to fix this on your own dime?

yes on my dime, the part was about 100 cdn dollars. i am a diesel mechanic, so i have a lot of tools. i could never get my camera in the right spot, so this is why it is a lot of blind work. you have to have a magnetic 8mm or 5/16 socket or you will never get the bolts back in. there about 1 inch between the separator and the cab of the truck

March 24th 2023. our 2021 2.7 turbo silverado 4x4 had lost oil and was leaking, dealership repair oil pan & gasket due to defective. Well today July 2nd 2023 engine light came on, looked under truck same oil leak and no oil on the dipstick. I called for appointment in the morning! I believe it's leaking above the oil pan,  but they didn't listen to nothing I said back in March. This is ridiculous not even 45,000 miles and this will be 2 times in 3 months it's had same problem not resolved. Looks like last repair made they  just put a ton of gasket sealant all around my pan :( ugh this is unacceptable.

So I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 2.7L Turbo Custom and have the san e issue. May 2024, oil leak from oil pan. Pan will not hold a seal. Pan has been changed 7 times

So I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 2.7L Turbo Custom and have the plastic oil pan issue. May 2024, oil leak from oil pan. Pan will not hold a seal. Pan has been changed 7 times, each time gm sealant and anaerobic sealant was used. Got the truck Sept 23 and 8 months later this. Now it's September 24, I have 47,120 miles in it, under PT warranty and GM / Chevy mechanics can't fix it. They have called for the "Technical Engineer" to physically come and work on the truck. To which he did and STILL had the issue. What is the next step in GM/Chevy to support?

@silveradosid Do you have a part number for the pcv that you ordered? Mine is currently leaking as well in my 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom with the 2.7l. I'm an aircraft mechanic, so I'm just going to do it myself as well as opposed to paying $1k usd that the dealership wants since my extended warranty doesn't cover it.

I have had oil in the charge pipe since my truck was new in 2020 at the first engine oil change. GM stated that they didn't know why it was happening. Checked the turbo-okay, checked the PCV system-okay, all other items were fine.  I took the truck back at the next service and GM sent an upgraded charge pipe to try-no change.  Took back at the next service and was told by the dealer and GM that it was just how the engines are designed and there was nothing they were going to do. I work for a Euro repair facility and work on a lot of boosted engines.  So, I installed a catch can and sure enough, the PCV system was allowing excessive moisture past the separator.  We have to empty the catch once a week in the winter as it fills so quickly.  I don't short trip, use only MOTUL engine oil, and Top Tier fuel.  Bottom line is, GM isn't going to fix it or even know why it is doing it. Invest in a catch can and take care of the problem yourself.  I would recommend the J&S catch can with the extension.

Hello everyone.  I have a 2022 Silverado Trail Boss 2.7 turbomax, late model refresh. Just discovered the same issue with my truck when I was changing the front diff oil.  The oil is coming from the same spot in the very first photo.  My truck has 59,150 miles on it.  When I removed the metal skid plate it was covered with oil. I want to hurry up and make an appointment to the dealership verify the issue.  Or can I contact GM directly ? My dealership is known for taking 2 to 3 weeks just to get in to have it looked at and I don't want to go past 60K.  Can someone advise ... Thank you !

you are really at the mercy of the dealership, you could take it to them and tell them it is seveer and you are afraid to drive it. hope they can give you a loner and just leave it.
