Hi guys, just bought a new 2022 Silverado RST Z71 with the 5.3L and 10 Speed Transmission. Only had the truck for a few days but noticed if I don't take off under heavy acceleration there is a lag in what seems to be the 1-2 shift. It shifts but the truck basically acts like it bogs down and hesitates on the initial shift. All others shifts seem fine only the first shift has this bogging and takeoff with more throttle seems to resolve this.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and if its normal transmission learning cycle or maybe related to this new update from GM.

If anyone else has experienced this or has done the update above please let me know your experience.

Thanks

Scott

Man I love that color!!  Welcome & Congrats on that truck!!  How many miles?  If you've only had it a few days, give it a few hundred miles for the tranny to learn your driving habits.  If it still sucks, take it to your dealer to get fixed.

How is the tranny operation now? Has it "broken in?"

Nearly 500 miles in and still the same. Really just the 1-2 shift bogs the motor unless you throttle into it pretty quickly.

Guess? You are feeling the Torque Control. Pulls timing to soften the shift.

Have the same with our 2023, called dealer and they said they wouldn't do anything till I put 1000 miles on her.  We have about half than now and its still present.  Doesn't make sense imho that it would "correct" itself.  Rest of the shifts are butter.

My dealer called me on Saturday and basically told me the transmission is learning for the first 2000 miles. He recommended I wait till then and see what it's like. I'm at 1100 miles and it does seem to be getting better. So I'm hopeful it will work itself out.

Good luck

I am having the same issue with my 2023 GMC Sierra 5.3 with the 10 speed transmission. Shuddering whenever truck is around 1000 rpm. It seems as if the truck isn’t sure if it should shift up or not. I waited a bit to see if it would correct itself, but now at 9000 miles I’m still having the same problem. I brought it in for my first service and mentioned the issue. I was told it was the new 10speed transmission and it was fine on a road test. I’ll be bringing it back in again because it’s not right. For 60k+, I’d expect a better product.

After 9000 miles there should be no shuddering from the transmission. I have the 5.3 with 10 speed in a Trail Boss and have never had any shuddering.

I would change the trans fluid to a better quality fluid at the first sign of a problem. 100% synthetic Amsoil, Redline.

Using non approved fluids will void the warranty.  Neither Amsoil nor Redline produce any Dexos licensed fluids.

Maybe you should show your dealer the Mag Moss Warranty Act and try to demand free transmission fluid?  Let me know how it goes.
