The questions I have is how the ECM determines the amount of fuel used for DEF usage as well and fuel filter change intervals, the DTE is a concern also, but not my primary concern

Truck measures the NOx in the exhaust stream.

Truck injects def to reduce NOx to desired level

DEF is used whenever it is running, to get the desired reduction in NOx level.

Fuel filter change is based of measurement of the restriction of the filter.

Neither cares how much fuel is in tank.

UPDATE:

On the Titan fuel tank.

DTE is twice the DIC readout either for the 22 gallon or 24 gallon tank.

I guess it doesn't automatically update in anyway?

Can you clarify please? Has the DTE changed to >900mi to empty? or does it still read 500ish?

It's gonna depend on the 'recent' fuel economy the vehicle has been getting.

I regularly see 700 miles to empty.

Just curious to see how this is still working out for you? Any change in DTE readouts, or is it pretty consistent still? I’m very tempted to upgrade.

The DTE reads normal but the truck's range is twice the read out.

I like the Titan tank, Not towing, I can go from Las Vegas to Amarillo,TX(900miles) before I think of fueling up on the way to Alabama, then stopping at Meridian,MS (TA truck stop) then back to Amarillo,TX and on to home.

Towing a 7 x 12 trailer (@3500lbs ), I get 15 mpg so it doubles the stops for fuel.

When I first installed my Titan 60 gallon tank in my 2022 GMC DuraMax the distance to empty would climb as I drove?  It is imo based on the current MPG the truck is showing.  Now after 7 months of use it does not seem to be doing this, I have a Edge CTS3 and chose fuel level as one of my gagues and the gaguge on the truck and it match pertty close.  :jester:

Has anyone used Titan tank for gas?  Has anyone found a larger replacement for gas?  I can't believe they put these little tanks in trucks.

I have the stock tank and see this every so often. Here's one of the times i actually took a pic of it.  I consistantly get 28-33mpg, and when tank is close to empty or get the fuel low light, i only put in 19-20 gallons tops.

Has anyone weighed their vehicle before/after the tank was installed or noticed a slight decline on mileage from the added weight?
