I have a 2015 Silverado 1500 with only 65000 miles. 5.3/6L80E 4wd.

Today when driving on the highway the truck randomly dropped to 4th gear and wouldn't upshift. After a key reset it initially shifted to 6th and then the CEL popped and it dropped to 4th.

I was able to get it home but it held the gears until 3k rpms and it would only go up to 5th gear when I hit 70mph.

Doing some research it seems this points to a worn TC. I am going to drop the pan first and make sure the Trans isn't toasted first. Is there anything else I should look out for?

I don't have a lift and plan to drop the tranny in my driveway and swap out the TC, will there be enough room underneath the truck? TIA

Yes.  If you are lucky, its just the converter, but high probability of further internal damage to other components like the fluid pump, 4-5-6 clutches and more.

I had to drive another 200 miles home after it happened. It wasn't slipping or anything. I guess I'll see when I drop the pan.
