My worst car ever.... My first one (in Europe) was a Citroen 2CV (wobbly ugly duck). Even that clunker was better. Why ? While on vacation West, Utah/Colorado, the instrument gauge display went BLANK. No speed indicator, pulling a 28 ft travel trailer. I never had a car before with no speed indicator.....Dealer in Colorado Springs said would be a lengthy repair and said to make an appointment. We are travelling....contacted Onstar and GMC furious. They advised me to go to any repair shop to check. Across the dealership was a Midas. They plugged in their little PC: hundreds of alerts mostly parking sensors related,m memory overload. I told them to delete all alerts. A miracle, the display came back to live. The most likely root cause: we drove hundreds of miles on BLM off roads, gem hunting, lots of dirt. That is what one does with a 4x4 right ? To clear the undercarriage and sensors each evening we drove throughg a touchless car wash. all clean for a next day trip. GM claims: GMC® Sierra 1500 - Sophisticated Technology  Not sophisticated enough to see that sensors were cleaned every day.

By the way, the cost by Midas was $0.00  nada. I dont understand that an onboard computer can be programmed to just shut down the most important display, the instrument cluster with the speedometer.

Yikes, this was one of my concerns before I bought my 2024. I get pretty much all manufacturers are moving this way on anything but the base trims, but it would be nice to have the option for physical gauges. The setup with physical speedometer/tachometer and the supplemental digital display in the middle seemed perfect, in my opinion.

Damn.  Let us know if it happens again, fingers crossed for you it was just a glitch and thankfully Midas cleared all of the codes.  I hope you tipped them well...

1500's have had that display since mid 2022 model year.

so far, it's the only time I've heard that issue.

Hopefully it's also the last.

Loose connector somewhere preventing power to the display?

I’m glad you boxed the gauge cluster in with big bold fire engine red otherwise I wouldn’t know where to look.

hope it was just a glitch and it’s gonna be good from here on out.

next time just hunt for gems in the mall. They have Kay, zales, Jared etc. all in one place!

Don't think the 'physical gauges' would have helped even if they were there.  Physical needles are electrically driven and have been for some time.  That's why they do things like cycle on startup or can switch between mph and kph by just moving the needle to the appropriate number.

Pretty much my concern as well. I would strongly prefer to have physical gauges with the LCD in the center of them. One big screen is enough for me but I didnt really want to go with a super low trim to get this. I would think this would be a safety concern for any of the big 3 honestly.

@Robg87 glad it was a no cost fix this time. Maybe I got snookered but I got the extended warranty because these types of things are so hard to diagnose as a home mechanic and even if you can figure it out the screens are still super expensive.
