I am currently in the works of certain things that I can not say on here yet if you catch my drift haha. Just hope the process is quick and I am back on the road in a NEW truck cough cough. 🤞🤞

Do you all remember Terminator 1 when he looked to make sure his vehicle would drive through the building? Yeah I’d be looking at the dealership walls for the same reason haha

I wish Mythbusters was still on TV.  I'd be curious to see if a 2500 ZR2 would go through the dealership wall in limp-mode.

You hit the wall and it doesn’t really do anything. That would be anticlimactic ha

Hey Eric, I have the same exact truck with 2,018 miles on it. I’ve noticed my truck sputters when going up a small inclines. Today for the first time it hard shifted into 1st gear when coming to stop. Did you notice any sputtering before your truck failed?

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this.  My 2024 gmc 3500 has been in the shop for nearly a month and they still cant figure out what’s wrong with it.  My truck just died, it starts back up and runs like crap again.  It has 9 different codes and if the dealer gets them cleared they come back on again.  My dealer communicates well and has told me that they have had request for support from GMC for weeks but hasn’t gotten a response yet.

I apologize I am just seeing this now. To answer your question, no the truck never showed any signs of transmission issues until it just failed.

What was the outcome of your case?

That's terrible 🫤👎👎 I am hoping your issues were resolved and if they were, what was the outcome?

My friends I am here to update anyone who cares to read the ongoing soap opera my truck has put me through.

Engine and transmission replacements have been holding up just fine thankfully.

The truck is on its 4th radiator.

#1 was replaced when the engine blew

#2 was replaced when the transmission blew

#3 was the replacement for #2 and it failed at the dealership when they filled it up with coolant and found a crack on it under pressure.

The radiator on the truck now is its 4th one. 😬

Now I have some info that may or may not shed some light into some issues other HD owners may be experiencing with their steering.

I apologize in advance for the novel, however I have had my fair share of issues with my particular 24 unit. From engine and transmission replacements to electrical and radiator replacements..

Since I purchased my truck I have had issues with the steering wheel not being "straight" when on a straight road. I always had to drive with it turned slightly to the left. Took it in a couple of times and the dealer would correct it as much as possible but it was never found to be enough of a problem to actually take the steering components apart to figure out the issue.

On dirt roads or rough roads I have also noticed a slight "binding" feeling when turning at low speeds. However since this truck is my first HD truck, I figured that's just how HDs felt given that the dealer saw no issues with it.

On wet roads or slippery surfaces while turning the steering wheel at 0-5 mph the tires and the steering wheel would vibrate and chatter. Again, I figured this was normal as the dealer had found no issues with the truck. Now thinking back at this I am realizing how silly I was for thinking that ..

My father has a 24 HD gasser as well but his is a GMC AT4 and mine is a Chevy HD ZR2.

I drive his truck often and I did not notice these symptoms on his truck. Again, me being silly thinking the "issues" on my truck were normal due to the dealer telling me everything was fine, I figured my truck did what it did due to the ZR2 suspension and bigger tires from the factory.

Over time this issue became more and more noticeable and I am finally at the point where it is clearly not the "crowning" of the roads that is causing me to have to steer left to go straight.

Took it in today for the tailgate recall, oil change, tire rotation and balance and also to have the alignment looked at again.

Well the service advisor called and informed me that the tech could not for the life of him get the steering wheel straight. They took a deeper look into the steering components and found the pitman arm had an abnormal amount of play. The truck now has 36k miles on it and thankfully the extended warranty I purchased covers this. I will report back once it is replaced to see if that fixes the issues I have always had with the steering.

Man, by the time I was on the 4th radiator I'd be concerned about who and how its being installed.

The steering? Just my experience but seems to be inherent to gear box setups, I've never had one be truly tight like a rack and pinion. Seems odd that the pitman arm would wear out that fast though, I'd expect the idler first.

Do the higher trims have any kind of electric assist in the steering? Mines a custom and does not so I have no experience there. Maybe it causes feedback?

I've found in the past that installing a steering stabilizer can really help with steering feel.  I added one on my '12 GMC within a month of purchase to firm the front end up.  Even though a steering stabilizer was not a factory option, the front end was designed for one, so it bolted right on using factory locations.

I know the 25MY ram 1500s are still 5th gen, but Ram did a whole new electrical system in those trucks that has been problematic, wonder if it's something like that going on with the 24MY GM HDs as well. It's why I only buy 2-3 year old trucks.

The 24+ gm HD trucks are running on a new system.

I've also looked into this however I am not sure how the dealer would respond to the steering stabilizer if the truck ever has a problem with the steering again. I am trying to protect the warranty as much as I can due to all the issues I've had with it. I am tempted to ask the dealer if this would void any warranties. I don't see why it would but you know how that can go.

The idler arm and the pitman arm were replaced due to excessive wear. The steering feels like new and the steering wheel is finally straight!!!

That's insane to see those parts fail at less than 40k miles! and those dealer prices are wild!
