@MaverickZ71 Great idea! Gonna go to parts store tomorrow and see if their scanner can see anything.  My little cheap scanner isn't reporting any issues at all.

I understand. The txv, drier and condenser coil are all in the loop. Meaning they are all inline with the refrigerant flow, 

 

FWIW, my 14 compressor granaded as well. At the worse time. I was talking to a friend as I fired up the remote start. Right as the struck started the compressor blew. 

 

Still sounds nasty when it is engaged every now and then..

Yep, when a compressor grenades it is impossible to remove the debris from the system so most components need to be replaced and a filter installed on the compressor intake to catch any remaining debris. that filter may clog rapidly depending on how much debris is still in the system

Agreed, these systems are pretty decent.  Must have a clean system.  

 

I went with the 4 seasons compressor, drier and txv. I ended up using the old cap to install the new drier.

@richard wysong So, if one has been told that "everything" has been replaced, how can I check that? Now I'm not sure if I need to go to a dealership or to a air-conditioning shop. It's looking like 100°+ this week, again. While my wife's Yukon is nice, I much rather drive my truck. Just a truck guy, I guess! :)

I'm going to be the odd man out here as far as dealer service.
I take my truck to the dealership from where I bought it.
I have a great relationship with my service advisor.
He makes sure nothing is done which is not needed.
Last time I took it it in for an oil change I wanted to do another transmission fluid change.
He let me know it wasn't necessary at this time since it was only 4 months ago.
I get my transmission fluid done every other oil change which I do every 4 months. I forgot I had the transmission done at the last visit.
Also, I brought it in for front and rear brake replacement (rotors, pads, etc). he called me back and said the fronts were fine but the rears are due to be changed.
YMMV, but my dealer service has been great!
Sure, I could do a lot of this service myself but I like, when I can afford it, to have it done by someone I can blame if things go sideways (other than myself.)

I would go to the a/c shop just to get a diagnosis. A good shop should have the ability to program the actuators if needed. The shop that replaced everything didn't give you any warranty? That is where I would start

I have the same relationship with my Honda and Hyundai dealerships. Honda 23 years with our Acura and our Honda. And 4 Hyundais since 05. Now my local GMC dealership told me they wouldn’t work on my truck when I called for a quote. After it’s over 15 years old they won’t work on it. I wanted shocks and brakes.
