Did the first oil change today at 1000 miles and found grease under the CV joint on the A-arm.  After some investigation found this:

Doesn’t instill confidence.  Never had this problem on my old K2.

The whole reason I didn’t use the free oil change was that I didn’t want a tech pawing on the truck.  Awesome.

I assume dealer will replace the entire assembly?

They make thousands and thousands or cv axles, yours just so happen to leak. Maybe you didn't have that issue on your K2 truck, but someone else surely did. It happens.

Yes, they'd likely replace the whole unit.

That’s a good point, I guess I was venting.  So far I really like the T1 and the way it drives.

Thanks 👍🏻

I'd guess complete shaft too.

With my '23 the parts guy checked availability of the boot and it showed back ordered - with no 'expected' date.

The complete shaft was in there shop the next morning.

They called, and I was available so brought truck back and got it installed (the day after it was ordered).

Running GM 4wd pickups since '95.

This was the first CV problem - and it happened in the first 6 months...

I would say they will replace the whole axle assembly. I had same issue and I told them I want a new axle and they installed one under warranty. Don't be afraid to tell them what you want. They make enough money off of trucks and warranties to be sticklers and lazy about repairs on a BRAND NEW truck.

Thanks everyone.  Dealer did indeed replace the entire shaft yesterday.

I used a small piece of duct tape in the interim to cover the crack and keep grease from slinging everywhere.

Cheers!

Yesterday I was hearing noise on the replaced CV axle side when going over bumps.  Climb under there and lo and behold the sway bar link is loose and not seated correctly.  I’m guessing the dealership just ran the bolt up there with an impact while the truck was up in the air.

Tightened it down properly myself using a torque wrench with the vehicle sitting on the ground.
