Wind shield wipers come on randomly in my new 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. Sometime they swipe once or twice then shut off. sometime I have to cycle the wiper control switch to get them to turn off. Anyone else seen this issue? Frustrating!!

You must have the 'rain sensing' wipers.

Mine will do that occasionally, if I forget to shut them off.

If they are turned on, they will do a wipe when you start the truck and I've had them come on when sun/shade hits the windshield it. It was the same on my F150 (probably the same vendor). I leave mine off and manually turn them on in the rain and let them do their thing while driving in the rain.

I'm pretty sure my 2024 Silverado 1500 LT does not have the "rain sense option". The wipers also come on occasionally when the blinker lever is engaged or wiggled. It's hard to nail down, intermittent. I thought it might be a software issue related to "rain sense" or maybe a wiring issue, maybe a signal input for "rain sense" needs to be grounded. Could be a bad switch assembly?

I'm thinking you've got a defective multifunction turn signal switch.

Others have mentioned RainSense, LT trim doesn't have access to that option.  ZR2, LTZ and High Country only on Silverado.

I have a 2024 silverado 1500 duramax trail boss and since it was brand new I have had issues with putting the turn signal on and the wipers would come on and swipe 3-5 times and go off.  Recently I was driving home in the pouring rain and after driving approximately 1/2 hour on continuous, they stopped mid swipe for approximately 5 sec and then started working again.  The dealer acts as if I'm making this stuff up.  They recently did the reprogram because the speakers would stop working for hours at a time and since that, there is now popping and cracking on my phone calls as to where they were clear before the reprogram!  I had to drive the tech in my truck and make phone calls to prove it to him because when he did it, it "did not act up!"  The dealer went and got another truck off their lot and did the reprogram on it and it did the same with the static and then another man came in and reported the same!  They didn't believe me!  Whatever happened to the customer is always right...$74,000 and this truck should float down the road for 5 years without issues!  My wipers have not been addressed and now according to the dealer...gm is working on another program to fix the static!  Really got no where and no issue solved!!!

I have a 2024 Silverado I bought in February. I noticed that the spray would randomly go off from time to time and the wipers would also wipe 2 or 3 times or not at all. It happened several times over the first 4 months. I was planning on taking it in to the dealership the get checked because it would go off while driving towards the sun and I couldn't see anything making it a hugh safety issue. Then it stopped happening for the last 3 months so i figured it resoved itself. Tonight I was driving and was merging onto the highway and it started again. The lights started flashing and the vehicle went out of gear. The truck shut off and the steering wheel locked up while I was in the middle of my merge. I'm lucky I didnt get hit. I was able to restart and gain control of the truck after about 20 seconds I believe it was a failure of the trucks anti-theft features. Anyways the engine light came on afterwards with a transmission fault. I'm taking it in to the dealership first thing Monday. I should have done it once I noticed the issues several months ago but they were rare and random.

Mine do the exact same thing.  2024 silverado LT. I thought i was losing my mind.  I have noticed that if I use my turn signals pushing it up or down closer to steering wheel seems to help. Sometimes I wonder if I flip it on and accidentally turn on wipers.  But I don't think I do.

Any chance the factory recall for software update N242435631 will fix the erratic windshield wiper issue?

This update is for the radio and serial communication firmware. Doesn't sound like this software update has been going very smooth by looking at the posted information on this recall. It is potentially causing more problems than it solves.

I'm taking my time getting the update in hopes more bugs get worked out.

    • I have access to about 20 diesel trucks with my business. And of course multiple gas trucks and cars. Zero-20 weight  oil is used in most all of them. But if you want to narrow down to one specific little diesel engine that’s fine. That’s what I get for agreeing with the idea of the use of lighter oil. In modern engines. And of course agreeing with you. I wouldn’t make that mistake again.
    • Link to the Demonworks video, 100k+ Duramax 3.0 that somehow survived on OLM-prescribed intervals and dealer oil service.
    • Stan, this thread is specifically related to the Duramax 3.0, in the 2019-2026 powertrain subforum. If you'd like to talk about your other vehicles and offer anecdotal stories about them, please consider starting a thread in forum that pertains to your truck, or the other vehicles/ Off-Topic section if they are not a GM truck.
    • Can someone tell me where the video processing module is in a 2023 Silverado? I'm getting conflicting results that it's in the front passenger area or the rear passenger area behind the seat.
    • Yes I agree, its what amounts to free advertising to let people know about his UOA testing company, and not that there is anything wrong with that but certainly that is a motivator for putting out videos about the science of oil as well as other topics such as oil and air filtration etc. The interesting part I found with his last video is not only the physics behind the reason for the varying wear due to a diesels working torque range causing more bearing load and that higher viscosity oil is of benefit, it was also that the chemistry behind the GM Dexos 0W-20 and the Mobil Dexos licensed 0W-20 are far enough apart that its showing up with a difference in wear even though the two oils are matched in viscosity and in that comparison viscosity was not having the finger pointed at it.    There are a few youtubers out there or one anyway that I have watched a bit of who has gone through the pains of accessing various countries manuals for a certain engine platform and while in the US/Canada it may say use 0W-20 or what have you for some Toyota product, in some other countries it sings a very different tune for the very same engine with the typical traditional oil viscosity/ambient temperature charts to help choose which oil viscosity is correct for the conditions the vehicle will be used in and in some cases its taken an engine in a US manual that states only use 0W-20 as per warranty coverage and yet that same engine in certain other countries may have up to a 15W-40 etc oil option that meets the spec. Another words the guy who is driving through Death Valley or Phoenix and south weather at 120f is often being fed a line of bs by the US system that has forced vehicle companies to restrict the warranty to a specific low viscosity oil for anterior reasons as well as the long drain interval suggestions.    Thankfully youtube is free ( yet anyway ) for viewers to sift through information and of course comes with the good and the bad ( truth and lies ) and we can choose to turn off/not watch what a person finds is bs or just not interested in the topic.
