As i did an oil check and catch can check yesterday. I hadnt check either since my last travel day north towing the 5ver. So 8 days. The can was almost full of the normal oily tan water mix. Fullest i have seen it so far. I should have take  a pic but i was so surprised, i just dumped it and put it back on.

So the best time for it/the can to do something seems to be colder weather as it sucks out moisture. Colder being very, very upper Minnesota weather. Summer very little moisture but oil vapor from pcv valve adds up at the bottom of the can.

The moisture burns off at some point anyway, without a can, but dumping a good cup of water stuff before it burns off cant be a bad thing.

If it was catching incomplete oil wouldn’t it be constant regardless of the weather conditions outside?

so if it was almost completely full in a week what happens when a guy gets bored with this little process and forgets to check it? Is it able to overflow out?

Venting your catch can to the atmosphere with an overflow drain would cause its own issues, right?  Mess. Unmetered air. I suspect it is not vented and just begins slowly releasing that latte-colored water into the intake.

Doesnt the pcv valve only go one way. To vent out. The vent out goes to the drivers side valve cover. So anything that is trapped in the factory tube, over time, goes in liquid form into the valve cover, like a full can would, if never emptied. Or in mine its mounted higher than both valve and cover, so it would just slosh over and down the tube into the valve cover putting the liquid back into the system like not having a can anyway.

I  would be happy if someone could post a photo or technical drawing of the LT8 and where this catch can would hook into ie.hoses etc.

thank you
