Hi all-

New to the forum, so my apologies if I am in the wrong place for this.  I have a '21 Sierra 3500 Duramax that has the IMHO obnoxious plug in on the bumper that requires the proprietary cord from GMC that then plugs into an extension cord.  The "socket" part on the bumper that the cord plugs into has (A) lost the spring that keeps the cover closed when the cord isn't plugged in, and now (B) appears to be shorting out when the cord is plugged in, to the point that it has melted the rubber/plastic of the cord itself.  That might be a bit of a long winded way of saying that I need a new cord and to get a new socket to replace the one currently in the bumper.  I've scoured carparts.com, ebay, and a couple other sites and cannot figure out exactly what those parts are called or where I might source them.  Any suggestions welcome.  Thank you!!

last  time I checked the cord was only available from GM

Thanks for the reply. So, not something one could purchase on the internet?  I think the cord is salvageable, but the actual plug (in the bumper) does need to be replaced.  Seemed like something I could do myself if I could locate one.

Is the receptacle on the truck moulded onto the cord from it to the heater?

If so, is it the truck side cord assy that is required?

Not sure it this is can or us pricing...  gmpartsdirectcom

(no doubt there are others that would show this item)
