It definitely has a branded title.  I've gone through the Carfax and that my main reason for coming here.  I've never bought a buyback vehicle was so looking to see if this was a known issue, something GM could be trusted when they say it's been fixed, or best to stay away from.

I realize a buyback would come some with risk, just trying to minimize that risk OR find out that I need to get out now.  Also, have no experience with diesel and would rarely tow but it would also be a family hauler in addition to 2000 miles a month on the highway.

Selling later on can  be a real ****** as well with a branded title as usually it takes a cash buyer so keep that in mind unless you plan to run it til it drops.

Does it say lemom/buyback or rebuilt or salvage on the title?

Sounds like you are doing your best to research so good luck with it.

There are some GM techs on here who may be able to find out what was done/fixed. Hopefully one will see this and check for you.

The title is not branded from GM. The coolant control valve was replaced twice, once at 35029 on 10/25/24 and again at 45264 on 5/15/25. The VIS does not state that it was a buy back. Hope this helps.

The Carfax shows it has a lemon/buyback disclaimer.  Trying to do my research and the more I do I feel like it's better to avoid the situation altogether. It's a good discount they're offering but the furthest I can get them to go on extended warranty is out to 120,000 miles (Currently at 45k) of Platinum coverage.

Thank you for the information!  Being new to my diesel research, would this be an issue I'd want to avoid?  It's been replaced twice and I worry it will continue to happen or impact/cause further issues down the road.  That's obviously big enough to warrant a buyback but my (Iowa) dealer is saying the buyback laws in California are very relaxed compared to elsewhere, but I wonder if he's doing that to make me feel more comfortable.

I work in a GMC Buick dealer and from what I see coming in frequently, I would stay far away from any of those 3.0 trucks. They are extremely difficult to work on requiring cab removal for most turbo, valve cover , EGR cooler repairs. The coolant control valve has been a constant source of trouble since that truck came out.The emission controls are another constant headache. Lets not forget about the transmission issues. Only you can decide if the fuel economy is worth the headaches and inconvenience. Also would not own one out of warranty.

This is what I came here looking for.  Thank you for your thoughts.  I believe I'll be passing on this truck.
