I got a icon5.gif for you guys that probably know more about this upcomming Colorado pickup the I do.  I've seen on a couple of Ford sites that people are claiming the Colorado is being built by Isuzu, and powered by an Isuzu inline 5 cylinder.

I do know that Isuzu had a large part of designing this pickup, but is it going to be built by Gm, here in North America?  I was also under the impression that it was to be powered by the Atlas line of engines, which includes the Vortec 4200, a Gm design.  So whats the scoop on this?

The Colorado will use a inline 5, but the engines are stricty a GM design. Yes, part of the platform engineering was done by Isuzu, but not the engines.

Thats all I needed to know.  I was having a hard time believing that GM would needs Isuzu's help in designing a gas motor.  Diesels yes, gas no way.

The I5 is a derivative of the Vortec 4200 I6 as is an I4.  They are all part of the Atlas line of the Vortec branch.

No Isuzu there, just the truck itself (body and frame) that Isuzu is playing a heavy role in.  The engine and driveline are ALL GM.

Maybe this will but it more in a Chevy perspective...

The Colorado will be a bit bigger than the Isuzu brother - probably offering a full length bed with the four door crew cab as seen from the spy photo we saw a while ago.  If you look at the spy photo and and these pics of the Isuzu, the cab and doors are exactly the same.
