Painted frame pics

This weekend when I took off my rear wheels to track down a brake problem (still not solved  ) I decided to paint my frame. It was looking pretty dirty and ugly. It came out pretty nice. Also did the leaf springs and the rear axle.

Much better in my opinion

looks nice! I've been trying to keep mine from standing out on my truck because its black and the frame rails are slightly brown... I should scrape them and sand a little but i've been spraying undercoating and black rustoleum on the flakes and they come off from road splatter and gravel... Haven't devoted time to it, i just clear the spray can on them when I was painting different things other than my truck. One of these days i suppose......

I've always wondered why GM never shrouded the wheel wells like dodge does. Every time i spin up mud it piles up in the rear bumper and all in the bottom ledge of the bedside. I hose it out and i get a shovel full of clay  It looks ugly on the dodges, and probably would look ugly on any truck, but it is practical IMO~

if i was gonna do it to my truck (might this summer cause it looks good) i would use por-15 have seen it on many jeeps used off road alot and it looks good and takes a beating.

i did use POR15 for the front end and some of it started coming off (I think the temps and weather did it). I said heck with that. I bought a few cans of rustoleum black paint.

As far as prep I just used a wire brush and got off all the dust/dirt i could (garage floor was covered) then painted

I put some Por15 on mine last year, but it didn't come out that glossy...I had figured you put something else on. Maybe I'll give the rustoleum a shot.

Looks great! :D

I bought some black undercoating-in-a-can from WallyWorld a couple of years ago for the Blazer. Worked great, it's lasted for about 3 years, and is just now looking like it needs another coat.

Well Ryan, you are one crazy ---...Spent the better part of my day putting the paint on mine...well and me too. I ended up pretty covered. The truck looks good though. I took my skid plates off- including the black diamond plate I had purchased...did that front one and the t-case plate up again. The paint project was after I had waxed the truck and done the oil change/lube...so I was already hurting. I picked up a can of Rustoleum clear spray which I may use to do along the edges of the doors as I had to have them repainted a few years back due to bubbling caused by moisture sitting in the sheet metal folds on the bottom edge of the doors.

I'm not sure what I'll do on the grille guard, it needs some attention too. Perhaps the Rustoleum brushing as well, though much more carefully than this experience.

Thanks mom...already got that speech earlier. As always live and learn. Though by the power of my newly acquired Harbor Freight creeper, I discovered that mysterious 11th grease fitting that I had been neglecting/failing to locate the past few times...the one up front on the passenger side partially hidden by that front skid plate. Well I took the plate off figuring I'd probably clean it up and maybe paint it, and sure enough, easy access. Makes me want to put an angled fitting on that one too like the 90 I did before.

I just painted mine with some POR15, as well as my trailer hitch. I ordered two of their "starter kits" with the two different cleaning chemicals and a pint of POR15 in each. Took just about one pint, kinda mad I ordered two kits now! It looks great, and I think I'm going to spray Rustoleum Black over it later tonight.

I'll try and get some pics!

I did the wheel well, not the frame... used DupliColor brush on bed liner... sanded, cleaned with alcohol, went right on. Check out before & after pics here

That looks awesome

Let me ask you something when it gets dirty is it easy to clean?

Does the duplicolor stuff come in a kit? What was the price?
