Bed-Liner

I am wanting to get a bed-liner for my 2001 HD2500, but unsure of what to buy. Is the spray-on liner (RHINO) worth the extra dollars??? I've always had drop-in liners before, and they have worked great. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

The spray-in, if properly done, is definitely worth the money. Make sure the installer knows the importance of prepping the bed area correctly and get them to spray a good, thick coating and you'll never go back to drop-ins!

I like line-x as opposed to rhino. It looks better because its not as thick, but it still protects very well as well as prevents stuff from sliding. I have it in my truck and I have no complaints. Personally I dont like the drop in liners because I dont think they look very good.

Drop ins are a bit clunky but great if you beat your bed a lot with cargo. During the winter I plow snow and I am throwing shovels and salt in and out of bed. I have hauled mulch and gravel with it to and not worried about scooping it out with a pitchfork or shovel. If it is for looks go with spray on but it you plan to really use it get a drop in as you can really murder one and not hurt bed and when you finially destroy it, you can replace it and still be money ahead of spray on one.

To the original poster...just wondering what may be hauled in the bed, etc.

I would be using the bed for work. Such as hauling tools and power equipment. I may have to use it for hauling mulch or gravel at times. I am leaning more toward the drop-in, due to cost and not having to worry about cutting it up with a shovel or other tools.

You'ld have to be pretty hard on a spray in to hurt it. I was kinda careless this weekend (maybe it was the beer - its a holiday im a allowed) and I was chucking some huge chunks of firewood in the bed and it didnt leave the slightest scratch or dent.

Not as hard as you will with a drop in. If you beat it, drop in is the way to go. You can drop things in a drop in without problem that will dent/damage bed under a spray on one. I can use a pitch fork with a drop in and mulch without problem. Try that with a spray on!

Spray-on for sure. I prefer LINE-X.

Drop-ins:

1. Rattle

2. Trap debris and water

3. Cause condensation

4. Warp

5. Cannot be repaired

6. Move, and thus wear through the paint, which causes rust

7. Take up too much space in the bed

8. Have virtually no impact absorption

9. Can fly out of the bed. Durakon, the worlds largest manufacturer of drop-in liners has a recall on some of their liners for fear of them flying out of the bed. You can read about it on their website.

I had a 2200lb pallet slide along my spray in liner (line x) with a forklift and nothing happened to it all. I'd think that is as much of a torture test as a pitch fork. Plus if it does get scraped off they will repair it for free...
