99silveradoz71 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 Those of you who have cured(well at least temporarily) the stiff gas pedal problem, what have you used to spray on and wife off the throttle body plate? I did a TEC treatment in winter, but I think the plate needs to be wiped off.
SteveCZ Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 Either 3M Throttle Body Cleaner, or I used a little bit of GM Top Engine Cleaner, the TEC doesn't need any rubbing, just eats away at the carbon.... once you clean the TB plate, then spray the rest in the intake manifold while the truck is running...
99silveradoz71 Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Well I cracked open a can of TEC and used a rag with that. I also picked up some STP TBC and sprayed a little where I couldn't get my fingers into. I have yet to give it the driveability test.
99Silver6.0 Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Seafoam works really well on top end. Liek mentioned in a previous post, the 3M TB cleaner works really well. Spray it into the air tube when the truck is running. NOT ALOT and not through the MAF. Just a few spurts every few seconds. Then shut off the truck, rip off the intake tube, hold open the TB butterfly and spray into the intake. Or take the TB off and do it that way and clean it at the same time. I saw some before and after shots of my friends 5.3 and I could not believe how well it worked. The intake runners look like brand new! I dump a half to 3/4 of a can in my gas too.
