Got back from vacation this afternoon only to find a message from the dealer: the truck has arrived. Went over to the dealer this afternoon to look at it. Very pleased. Will be picking it up tomorrow. Its a 2005 2500HD With DMAX/AT, 4x4, EC and LB. Got the telescoping camping mirrors. It is painted in the new dark blue metalic, which almost looks black from some angles. Looking forward to take it for a tow with the trailer, especially in comparing it to my supercharged 454. It has the "bulge" on it. Got the 2005 Silverado manual with me home tonight. Dealer had a few 2005s on the lot, although they were hidden in the back, presumably to help drive the 04s off the lot.

Lucky guy, my dealer hasnt recieved anything yet but he said in a week they will be here, so im just waiting for now. I'll be trading in my 02 for an 05 when they arrive.

My dealer has a couple '05s on his lot. The new front clip really distinguishes the new HD's from the LD trucks.

Congrats on the new 05' HD...

I really like the fact that it has the larger hood like the 01' and 02' models have. Having a difference between the HD's and LD's is just the way it should be...

I would assume the new hood would fit on your truck, but I'd go to a dealership and compare them side by side to be positive everything will fit together correctly.

When you get that truck, I'm curious if they attached the grill to the hood. Heard rumors, but can't tell from the pics. Sure appears that it is though..

Not at all. Same grill set up, just clips in. The 2500 I looked at had a grill that could swap into an older '03 and '04. So could that fat hood.

Congrats on the new truck mine arrived this week as well. 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT, 4X4, crew cab w/short box. The Duramax is awesome. Cant wait to pull my 10,000 lb boat on the trailer.
