OK here is the deal. We have been on dial up since 1993. Same internet provider. So you can imagine how indepth our e-mail address has gotten with everything we have ever done online and people we know. Anyway, I was just informed that DSL is coming to our little (population 500) town. Every other town around us has had it for a few years now.

Since it is the only high speed available and I will hopefully be getting, Can't afford DirectWay and cable isn't available, what do I need to know as far as little tricks to fine tune it once I get it. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets here with in a month. Sprint has been telling me that for 2 years now. But I found out from the Sprint repair guy that was here to trouble shoot a problem with our line, that the equipment is being installed in our towns phone building this week.

Thanks

Put the little DSL filters on EVERYTHING. We kept having a problem until we found out that there was no filter on our alarm. Use a DSL patch cable instead of a phoneline, and make it as short as possible. A while back we had a phone jack problem and we had a phone line running to another room. Our connection speed was only like 500k but as soon as we got it fixed and got a patch cable it went back up to 1.5mb. Make sure you get a modem with an ethernet connection. This allows you to set up a router later on. When we first got it about 3 years ago somehow we got stuck with a USB connecting modem. Bellsouth thinks that modem is broken now....

GET RID OF INTERNET EXPLORER!!!!! pull up a link to Mozilla Firefox smf download it. got rid of my IE and it's one of the best things i've done. get a good firewall software as well as a good virus pkg. i use a little pkg calle Privacy Erase Pro. it removes ANYTHING/EVERYTHING of where you have been on the net. you have no record in your system and nothing to track where you were on the net itself.

Its probably because I upgraded to 0.9.3, on 2 computers here it wont keep the bookmarks.

Now Im using Mozilla on my Linux machine and I love it. Im using Mozilla 1.7.2 on Redhat 9.

Make sure your close enough to your CO before you go through all the hassle of trying to get DSL. Its something like a 1 mile or less. CO is the Central switching office for the phone company. Every town pretty much has one. As for tweaks get your self a router/firewall box for like 30 bucks at best buy. This will help block anyone tring to get into your computer from the outside world.

Thanks, I'm only a few blocks from the Sprint building. So I should have great speed. Nice to live in town, even if it only 500 stong. I also have Firefox. It works great for me and keeps my favorites no problems there. I have linux on this machine but to scared to boot to it. Maybe one day I will venture on it.

Thanks again

    • Regular cab has only 2 speakers.  One in each door.  No amp.  Radio drives the speakers.
    • Thanks for response. Leak was right under drivers seat or thereabout.   Had checked by other mechanics and have read other information.   The solution can be a tad complicated and replacing multiple parts And with some.  The issue was still the same.   The brakes do work.   Just that the pedal is softer and goes further down.  But the brakes do work.
    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
