'99 2500 questions

I'm considering a '99 2500 with the Vortech 5.3 engine. It's got 90,000 miles on it, and the guy has used Mobil 1 every 4k - 5k miles since about 15,000 miles. The body is very clean. Here's some questions:

* What kind of gas mileage should this truck get without towing?

* Could it pull 8k - 10k pounds once in a while, on somewhat smooth terrain?

* Should this engine last another 100k miles?

* Any particular trouble areas with this year/model/engine?

* What would be a fair price on this truck?

Thanks a ton for any help or advice you can give me!

In order to get towing specs, you need the axle ratio as wel as the engine size.

I have a 98 with ove 100k, and I am just fixing wear items at this point. I do not see a problem with 200k on a motor using Mobile 1. Just my opnion, and not the opnion of the owners, or staff of the board.

Without towing, I would guess you could expect 15 mpg or so, where do you keep you foot (in the injectors or in the cab) and what mods have been done?

as far as value, check kbb.com. they will ask for you zip and give you the value.

As far as I know the 2500's never came with a 5.3 liter, unless you mean 1500? If it is the older body style it should be a 5.7L, and if it is the newer style the motor would be a 6.0L.

I ran my K2500 up to 185K before selling it. I got decent money for it because it looked and ran great, without ever touching the internal engine/transmission parts.

I do know for a fact that you could get the NBS in 99 with the 5.3!! I looked at one and drove it before they found the one I had driven 4 hours to see. I bought the NBS 99 with 6.0l because it did not have leather, I hate leather. :D

There were some "New-Body-Style" 2500 series trucks with the 5.3,more in the 2wd than in the 4wd but they do exist.
